Hi guys!

I don't usually ask for help, but I'm giving up on this issue, as I have absolutely no idea why it's happening.

SPECS

- Mobo: MSI 880GMA-E35 (driver Realtek Ethernet updated from MSI site)
- Router: Linksys E1500 (firmware updated to 1.0.0.6)
- Smartphone: LG Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1)
- OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (updated through Windows Update)
- Anti-virus: Microsoft Security Essentials (updated)

ISSUE

It's simple. I turn on the PC and begin browsing through my favorite blogs and sites. After some time (it may be hours or minutes), all the pages in my browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE, doesn't matter) fail to load, and I get "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" and "ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED" (in Chrome). When this kicks in, I can't even access my router (192.168.1.1), it fails to load also.

Although I can't load any site, uTorrent keeps working normally, and I can ping sites just fine through command prompt. This doesn't affect the wifi, I can keep browsing as much as I want in my phone or tablet.

I wait a couple of minutes and it solves by itself, the pages reload just fine, and I keep browsing... until it happens again, and so on. I know the first thing that comes to mind is DNS, so I altered the DNS to Google's solution, but it keeps happening. CMD ipconfig commands don't help either, registerdns / flushdns / renew

All I can do is wait, or reboot the PC.

I have a Linksys AE2500 wifi antenna here and after using the PC connected to the wifi, the issue persists, but only in the PC. In my smartphone the wifi works flawlessly.

I guess the problem is in Windows, but I have no clue where to look.

I hope some expert here can help me solve this infernal issue.

Thanks in advance.

Is that the same as the AE2500 usb adapter seen at Linksys Official Support - Linksys AE2500 N600 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter ?

While not having seen the same error I've seen times on the second remote desktop I have here since the 7 Pro side of a dual boot with 10 Pro on separate drives has a rather interesting problem of it's own! There are no 10 drivers for the usb WiFi adapter and 7 won't connect by way of the Cat 5 ethernet cable plugged directly into the WiFi capable router!

On a few occasions 7 wouldn't even connect to the web where the IPConfig utility was then used to refresh the connection. With a command prompt option you can try the "ipconfig /release" command followed afterwards by the "ipconfig /renew" command to see if Windows will refresh the network detection after clearing the dns cache.

Another system tool available which might help would be running the System File Checker in case a system file associated with networking has been damaged or gone missing. If you have a 7 dvd used to install Windows you may want to see that in the optical drive since the tool may need to extract replacement files from the dvd. At the command prompt's dos like prompt you would type "sfc /scannow" and press enter to get that tool running.

Yes, that one.

I'll run that command. Thanks for the help.

I'll provide feedback later on.

There's also another tool I was just pointing someone to that has a problem of not being able to get any updates or download anything regardless of IE or Chrome being used while a torrent program still connects however. That would be the Complete Internet Repair v2.1.0.2103 latest version of the free tool you can try found at Complete Internet Repair Download

That works if the problems are software related and is a stand alone tool you run without any installation involved. Haven't worked with it here however while you can look it over at the home site seen at: https://rizonesoft.com/download/complete-internet-repair/

One command I never seem to have to use here is what I forgot to mention earlier when going to run the IPConfig tool at the command prompt. After you first type "ipconfig /release" you will then want to use the "ipconfig /flushdns" command and then follow that with the "ipconfig /renew".

The other tool however covers a variety of issues if those still don't see results. The inability to load web pages is a result for the need to see the dns cache flushed to allow Windows to have a fresh detection of the active connection from start again.

Damn, this is killing me.

I've tried everything, and it won't go again.

I'm considering installing a different copy of Windows. Maybe this one has some flawed networking files, or something.

What type of connection are you working from there? I have run into some glitches at times in Windows(98SE, XP, Vista, 7, even now running 10 in a dual boot with 7) for not even being able to get to the home page with any browser and then suddenly everything worked! I went in and disabled both physical and virtual network adapters used for VMs as well as the physical install on the drive and still ended up waiting for something unspecified to refresh itself.

The pinging shows an active connection so you can rule an ISP problem for the most part! You may have either seen a bad install for an update for NetFramework or something else end up in a resource conflict of some type which will prove to be the culprit you need to find there.

One thought would be opening up the msconfig utility if you just recently added something new on before this came up on you suddenly. If you can id the program if a 3rd party item you can go into the Selective startup>Startup group tab and uncheck that or even go further by selecting the disable all item box and restart the system in order to see if the general web connection is suddenly restored or not.

Since you have already tried refreshing the IP configuration with the Windows tool you now need to try isolating startup items in order to be able to either rule them out or isolate the problem source if you should suddenly find things working normally again. Hopefully since you are only running the MS Security Essentials something else hasn't simply slipped in past any notice like a malware raising havoc for you there. It seems all cards are still on the table for the moment.

It might be time to start looking for a new torrent program that won't interfere. At least you know the precise source while Kicksilver still needs to find out where the problem is and whether or not being some type of 3rd party clash or not.

Often it wouldn't even the main program but a web updater option you have to set from automatic to never and then check manually every so often while preventing the main app from starting up with Windows will generally work well.

One thing I take notice of right away from looking at the IPConfig information is the Realtek PCIe Gigabyte Family Controller which indicates the separate nic card as seen here as well except I have the PCI not PCIe version here. The second desktop where the problem was being seen however was with the onboard lan for the latest Windows 10 initially as well as 7 Pro using a usb WiFi type adapter with neither able to change places to see 10 use the WiFi and 7 use the Cat 5 ethernet hard wire for some unknown reason.

Since the IPv4 was released and refreshed there and the problem is still being seen the other item not mentioned before would be the IPv6 needing a refresh as the next thing to try. At the elevated command prompt you would enter slightly different commands in order to first release the IPv5 configuration typing the "ipconfig /release6" command and then followed by the "ipconfig /renew6" command afterwards.

If you have already seen all items disabled in the msconfig utility you would then try re-enabling one thing at a time and watch to see if the problem if immediate results are seen returns when a particular item is made active at startup time again. The fun part is the need to restart the machine a few times after one or two maybe three but not all items are re-enabled.
