Solved Downloading 85 updates (0 KB total, 0% complete)

Hello,

Just had my had my hard drives replaced (Ouch! So much for my raid setup). Windows 7 Pro re-insalled.

I checked for any updates and found 85 Important and 31 Optional.

Nothing seems to be able to be updated. After a day of running my updates. none seem to be installed.

The status is "Downloading 85 updates (0 KB total, 0% complete)"

Did a couple of Google searches and attempted to follow suggestions.

Not sure of what I did, but was able to install 14 Important updates, but I can't seem to get the remaining updates installed.

Would someone be able to assist me?

First reboot your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal.

Hello everyone, excuse me not to open another topic for my problem but I am now in the same situation as Stuart253. Before proceeding with the above solution I have a doubt.
At this point I think install some updates but it is taking longer than usual. Do not download anything. That update that mention pbcopter (KBKB3172605) is the one that replaces the KB3161608. Which helps fix the problem of slow download. Right ? I not have preinstalled the 608, then there would be no problem installing the 605.

Just install the latest as it replaces last months anyway. You don't need to install both and apparently last months caused some issues, particularly with earlier versions of Word.

Yes, stop the Windows Update service first, install the April 2015 servicing stack update (KB3020369), reboot then install the 605 rollup.

or

Just install the latest standalone WU client update on it's own, as this has no prerequisites to install first https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3138612 then you can run Windows update to get the rest of the updates.

If I have 369. I will go for the first option.
The two options are safe to use. In the sense that not install anything related to W10. I have no plans to change operating system.

No, don't worry, no Windows 10 nagware included with those updates.

This made me change my mind and choose the first option :

It has nothing to do or I'm very paranoid

That only applies to Windows Server 2012, neither update will install anything related to Windows 10 on your system. Either option it's up to you.

Turn off the modem to see if it was that and nothing.

Edit 1 : Clearing the cache and history and could download the patch The only bad thing is that it is taking time to check for updates on the computer.

When manually installing updates you need to switch your update settings to Never check for updates and restart the machine first.

I just disconnect the cable internet but I can not cancel the search . The cancel button does not work :s

Check these services and make sure they are not running after starting back up,

Windows installer
Windows update
