Hello,

I have a 4710s probook, which is really old and damaged (dead battery, broken charger, minor broken parts) despite that I've used it pretty fine past couple of years but this week it's been hell using it. Monday it wouldn't display at all but somehow I got it to work wednsday not for long cause yesterday when I went to turn it on after puttting it in sleep mode it no longer displayed.
I tried:
The drain method
Switching the ram slots (sure it's not the ram since it worked wednesday after not displaying tuesday)
Cleaning the ram
plugged a monitor (didn't show up on the monitor)

I can't afford a new laptop.

If the battery is dead, remove it from the laptop. It can damage your charger.

Well the battery only "works" if the charger is plugged, so in dorder to use the laptop the charger has to remain plugged in 24/7 if I remove it it shuts down. The charger is already damage since it's bent and only works in that bent position.

My problem is that my laptop which is very old doesn't display any images meaning that when I press the power button to start up my laptop the power light turns blue which indicates to me that it's on but my screen doesn't change so I can't do anything but stare at the blue light. That same thing happened to me Monday although somehow I got it to work Tuesday afternoon but now I've tried mostly everything without any success. I'm not 100% sure but I've noticed that's this happens after I put it in hibernate mode.

The 4710 was a good PC in 2009. It is past its prime now and will not continue much longer if any longer. There are some good cheap ones refurbished. You should check them out. Google == Refurbished Laptops Windows 7== There are plenty with a good price.

When you start the computer, does it shows anything on the screen, like POST (Power ON Self Test)? Do you hear any sound (beep)? Did you remove the battery?

When I press the power button, the light of the power button turns on, the orange light of the wifi switch turns on, the caps lock light keeps blinking, I can hear the fan running but the screen doesn't show any sign that it's on like except the backlight. Yes the battery is out

It seems that when you press the power button the MB is energized (the orange light of the wifi switch turns on, the caps lock light keeps blinking, you can hear the fan running) but it doesn't boot.
I have a friend's Samsung that's in the same situation. As he lives by the sea, I've opened the case to see if there was some oxidation, cleaned the heat sink without any results.
It can be many things, (internal power supply, chipset, CPU etc), even defective memory. Sorry, I can't help you further.
