Windows Update not working after reinstall of Windows 7.

I was running windows 10 and my hard drive died a few months back.
I bought a larger HDD and reinstalled everything back to windows 10 and everything worked great.
A few days ago, the laptop got corrupted somehow and I had to reinstall windows 7 from backups I made before installing windows 10.

Now I can't get windows update to work at all.
I am taking this thread slowly.

Firstly, I set windows update to never update and set BITS to manual.
I tried to download SURT and I got the fault "Installer encountered an error 0xc8000247"
I checked that KB3020369 wasn't installed. (It wasn't)

I downloaded the file.
When I try to run the file I get the fault "Installer encountered an error 0xc8000247"

Any help and advice please?

Managed to run SFC from the command prompt and errors were found but don't know how to fix them.

Unable to view the log file as "access is denied"

I think that is what I did only with the backup disks I created.
My HDD was wiped clean.

I don't remember the laptop ever coming with a Windows 7 disk, just pre-installed.

I have a sneaky feeling you have a bad set of Intel Drivers.
(not tranferred correctly to your new drive)

Now if im right look at this thread, and your report looks exactly like his (file mismatch errors), follow the instructions/link for the intel drivers and install

Note reset your BITS and WindowsUpdate settings BACK
NO BITS = NO UPDATES

Sorry Goodbhoy, I thought that tut told you how to avoid the W7 update issues but it don't. torchwood will know more than I so will bow out.

Now I can't get windows update to work at all.

"At all"? You mean that it won't work at all, or it gets stuck looking for updates?
