Hello, I got here an ASUS Vivobook X556UQ with windows 10 and I wanted to install windows 7. So I wiped the SSD and got my original Windows 7 on an USB stick. Now the problem is I cant install it because of missing drivers. Its the same error as in this video: Windows 7 - CD / DVD driver missing ERROR BUG FIX installing from DVD or USB - YouTube

I also updates the BIOS but the problem is, there is no USB 3.0 or 2.0 option (advanced Settings). The BIOS is AM, 304, 1043.I021X556UQK.001
Any ideas what to do? :( Thanks!

In prior generations, PC systems had both xHCI and EHCI controllers. Intel removed the EHCI controller from Braswell and Skylake platforms which made installation of Windows 7 more difficult on these platforms. Windows 8 and 10 currently do not have any issues for a fresh OS installation via xHCI controller, but Windows 7 does not natively support xHCI controller and relies on manual installation of the Intel's xHCI driver.

Instructions to create a Windows 7 installation USB flash drive with Intel xHCI driver.
Look at post #5, this thread: Windows 7 A required CD?DVD drive device driver is missing

edit: You don't need a DVD drive (or a virtual DVD drive) if you are using "MSI Win 7 Smart tool".

Win 7 doesn't have some drivers for new MB. You have to load them. That is what it is asking on post 1. It would be simple to load them by a USB flash disk. The problem is that Win 7 doesn't have the USB3 drivers. Then you're stuck. There is a way to load the drivers too the installation disk. Read my tutorial Create a Windows 7 USB flash installation with new drives for new MB's
Try to add this USB drivers to the installation disk: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachme...king-clean-install-windows-7-how-fix-usb3.zip

Your ASUS Vivobook X556UQ can come with Skylake or Kabylake CPU.
Kaby Lake isn't compatible with Win 7. Many articles I read, It's only compatible with Win 10 and Linux.
Fist thing to check is if you're able to disable secure boot on BIOS. If you can't....
Should you upgrade to Intel's upcoming Kaby Lake processors? | Windows Central
Microsoft made 'em do it: The latest Kaby Lake, Zen chips will support only Windows 10 | PCWorld

You can give it a try. On BIOS, set secure boot to disable (or set OS to Other) and set CSM to enable.

As stated in reply 3 create an installer using Asus EZ Installer, it may work it may not.

Your chipset may not allow anything but W10.

You should contact Asus and ask them.

Where do you get the EZ installer ? I have an Asus Motherboard and an Asus laptop. I try to install Windows 7 from a USB stick, but I get the dreaded CD/DVD drivers missing when trying to boot into UEFI mode. I think its a lack of the USB 3.0 drivers not being found during this process. I have the original CD and am able to find motherboard drivers when loading drivers manually. But I don't think they are the right drivers that the system wants because the Windows 7 installation from usb refuses to recognize them.

And yeah, I too am not a fan of Windows 10.

If you have an install dvd and a dvd drive then you won`t have this problem installing Windows 7 :)

And if you have usb 2.0 ports you shouldn`t have any problems either.
