I upgraded from win7 pro to win10 as advised by my pc supplier for ongoing support for the future

I was running some security locked third party software protected by crypkey which was working fine udates to WIN10 when errors started to occur -to the point that after latest update -which Igather are "mandatory" -it will not work -nor will it generate an authorisation string from the software vendor

We have tried several times to generate a "user string" but each time an error code appears

The best suggestion is to revert to Win7 via a clean install and then relaod my other software after installing the "protected" software onto a virtual brand new PC so that it at least cannot be fouled by some other conflict (which is believed to be driver related)

I have been asked to:-
Back up files and docs which I have using win10 to a dvd and one of your advisers has informed me that I will not lose my Yahoo e-mails as they are on external servers

I have burnt an ISO of WIN 7PRO ready and run speccy to get details of my system hardware (as detailed in my registration

Please can you assist in the following as I am unable to trace original system drivers
If I load win7 pro will I be able to go online and download programmes and drivers or will I need additional driver to enable a n internet connection -ie are most of the "basic drivers " included in win7 ie mouse keyboard (monitor is p and p Belinea)
I have had no need to carry out this in the past as buying updated systems -they have always been purchased up and running and then I have loaded any software progs from downloaded links -other than the OS and MSOffice etc for which I have official disks and keys
Someone mentioned also that by doing the win10 upgrade (more than 30days ago) I have lost my Win 7 key and the win10 one I have will not allow me to go back or allow me to use it for Win7
After all the hassle with the sware authorisation I dont want to carry out this operation and be no nearer to be up and running again Frankly at the moment I wish Id never taken the win10 "freebie"offer !!!
Your expert advice would be most appreciated

Hi,
You can't loose a win-7 license by upgrading to 10 with it all that is neded is to reenter it as one would normally would after a clean install of 7.

You loose the ability of using win-10 system restore back to 7 is all which you should of made a system image of 7 on a totally separate hdd well before upgrading to save allot of fun reinstalling 7

Welcome to the forum. Is this the same problem as this Open - win10 desperation !! | PC Help Forum

iIt sure is Samuria -thats how desperate I am !!
(What a busy fella you are with more than one hat!!- I wasnt wanting to waste anyonestime -just trying to find a solution without having to go through the clean install process and stay on Win 10 if possible but do it to get back up and running if necessary)

Will add that now been informed that the error on the security authorisation for 3rd party software could be down to obsolete drivers from previous outdated versions of 3rd party software Got a feeling that they may be lingering about from previous versionsof software that were installed on Win 7 OS prior to last years win10 upgrade scheme
Does thisring any bells and if so how do I go about removinbg them as theyre obviously linked to the previoussecurity string (if this really is the cause)
pc manufacturer has tentatively suggested a prog calledDriver Fusion - any advice to offer on this score
Basically have software loaded but without getting it authorised it is only in demo mode If I can get it to be authorised in Win 10 would be happy as all other progs (office/ etc ) working fine - just the 3rd party software that cant be authorised!!

Asolution or advice greatly appreciated

Hi Doug,
1)
As you have a custom built install, your product key should be either System builder or Retail, so you havn't lost it.
NOR have you lost your free W10 upgrade, once its there its there permanantly

2)
The more important question from YOUR point of view is
ARE your CAD programs 32bit dependant?? ONLY.
(note your licence should be valid for 32/64 bit installs)

If not i can see NO reason why your PC supplier asked you to upgrade to w10, W7 is still supported until 2020 min

3rd party security, name unknown knowing which it is would be handy, CANNOT believe that its drivers are obsolete, THATS UTTER RUBBISH, NO decent security system would not have W10 drivers or its related Certificates being outdated
(it cant be Bitdefender so what is it)
The only thing i can think of is that you are a contractor and your employer requires that you use XXX

Forget about Driver Fusion just use the
Original manufacturers drivers sites , Gigabyte/Intel/Nvidia/AMD etc

PLEASE use macrium free to make a system image BEFORE making any changes, it will make life a lot easier,
Thrash is correct:D

Import your data from the W10 image back to W7

Demo mode programs are usually time restricted, ie 30/60/90 days, hence DEMO not LIVE.

You wouldn't by any chance have a W7 image prior to the W10 upgrade.

Roy

It appears that Cryptkey has NOT been updated for W10 use, so those errors are to be expected, until they do W10 is NOT an option for you
SysCAD and Crypkey Licensing Software - SysCAD Documentation
(the only way W10 is going to work for you is to uninstall Cryptkey)

I'd upgrade your RAM if 64bit CAD is available

hi fella - an update
followed your colleagues advice and loaded latest win10 which is working fine but as suggested didnt sort the security key problem
However - on booting up again Ireceived screen which asked "boot into windows 10 (default) or an earlier version of windows
Presumably that is the wIN7 that was the OS prior to last years win10 launch --and on which the problem software was working
But I was told that after 30 days the old os was deleted

based on your advice is it worth trying that alternative to nsee what happens (havent done so as would appreciate your advice as to why this option appeared
Jusdt wondering whether if i could access win 7 and tried the authebntication process via this OS do you thing Syscad may function ass it did

one more question - it wasw mentioned you can run Win7 in win10 - can you elaborate im more than a little confused though with me and computers - thats not a rare event Thanks for all your help and advice

An earlier version of windows could be the previous Win 10.

Fist thing I would do is to backup all your data (encrypted and no encrypted) on an external disk.
Have see many people at this Forum that lost all their data due to encrypt software.
Why do you need encrypted data on a desktop?
