After applying KB4100480, my Logitech M335 Wireless Mouse is laggy and unresponsive. System Restore cannot undo KB4100480, despite there being a Restore Point available.

How can I get this mouse working again?

Hi gdstuart, welcome to the Forum.

The first thing to check is the mouse battery & change it, or try another battery even if it's fairly new, as new batteries can be duds. If that fails try another mouse.

You could also uninstall the mouse driver from Device Manager, shut down the computer, disconnect the mouse, reboot the computer & then plug the mouse back in & windows will reinstall the driver.

Hi gdstuart,

Did you try uninstalling mouse driver?

As I said, the system failed to restore to the Restore Point prior to applying KB4100480. I don't know any other way to remove a package.

Since the mouse is PnP, I did try removing the drivers and rebooting. It reinstalled but still does not work. I've tried this multiple times.

So the PC in question is not the one shown in you system specs? I'm guessing that it might be a laptop? If so does the touchpad work OK?

It's my Dell XPS13. The mouse seems to work on boot-up but as soon as I start opening any windows, it stops functioning. I have read posts about disabling Aero but I don't know what that is. Also, other posts blame the display driver but I have tried those fixes and they don't work.

So it is a Laptop, I ask again. Does the touchpad work OK? (You need to unplug the mouse!)
To disable Aero read this:
Disable Windows Aero | Windows 7, Vista

The touchpad works fine. So does a wired mouse plugged into the same USB port. So does a cheap wireless mouse (with lousy action) that I got for free. But I much prefer the M335 mouse and want it to work again. Logitech support has been helpless on this.

Another thought. What problem did you have trying to delete the update in question?

Researching Aero turned out to be critical. I never liked the feature (semi-transparent window borders), but never understood why the window borders on my laptop looked different than on my desktop. I simply went in to Personalize and chose a non-Aero theme and so far (2 days of use) the problem has completely vanished.
