Solved BAT Help

for shutdown I have a bat file shortcut and it is thus :


@echo off
echo SHUTDOWN - TURN OFF YOUR SPEAKERS!!!
timeout /t 30 /nobreak
shutdown -s -f -t 00

when i execute this a command prompt window appears and displays :

SHUTDOWN - TURN OFF YOUR SPEAKERS!!!
Waiting for 30 seconds, press CTRL+C to quit ...

if I press CTRL+C the following displays :

Terminate batch job <Y/N>?

OBVIOUSLY my pressing CTRL+C means I want to terminate! SO, how do I modify this file to remove this annoying message/prompt and terminate straightaway?

The only solution I am aware of is to press C twice instead of once.

no, for me doing that just repeats the y/n prompt

Instead of the timeout, use pause there. That way, it will pause while you turn off your speakers but when you want to move forward with the shutdown, simply hit the Enter key.

Would terminate_autoanswer = 1 not work!

Hi strollin -

The speaker shutdown message is simply an alert for me to take a quik look at the speaker power switch (there's a on/off led on it) next to my keyboard, so I can get to it well within the time. However, I do want to maintain the 30 second timeout and CTRL+C abort option. My issue is that I want the CTRL+C to abort the shutdown! I DO NOT want it to ask me with a yes or no if I want to abort (terminate). I already made that decision when I invoked the CTRL+C. Does anyone understand me?

If you hold Ctrl + C for 1 second, it will terminate the batch file without asking any futher user input.

As for the message itself, you cannot remove it without modifying CMD.
