A long time ago I disabled IE and I've been using Chrome and Firefox ever since... until today. I've found I need to use a website run on Silverlight. I cannot get Silverlight to function in my Chrome of Firefox, so I went back and re-enabled IE (version 11) again. The only problem is the only "version" I have available is the "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" one. Can anyone help me turn the "normal" version, with the possibility of using add-ons (i.e. Silverlight), back on please?

Many thanks in advance

Hi SpatialProf,

Welcome to SevenForums!

Have you tried using alternative browsers other than Chrome and Firefox, or is it basically the case that unless you have Silverlight the website is inaccessible?

Unfortunately unless you have Silverlight the website is inaccessible.

Hello SpatialProf,

can you go through the steps, how are you launching internet explorer?

internet explorer (no add-ons) is a specialised version of internet explorer.

If you open the Start Menu, begin typing ieexplorer.exe, then the shortcut to the normal internet explorer should appear within the search results.

Hi iko22,

I open the Start Menu and start typing Internet Explorer. When I complete the word Internet I get Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) appearing in the list of programs above. I don't see any other version.

When I open the Start Menu and type ieexplorer.exe I don't get anything at all!

Sorry, my typo. Should have requested that you type iexplorer.exe.

How did you disable/re-enable the program?

Perhaps you just need to recreate that program's shortcut.

Same with iexplorer.exe

It is at least a couple of years since I disabled it, so my memory is vague at best. I believe I just used the "Turning Windows Features On or Off" GUI.

I assume that you have re-enabled it in the Turn Windows Features On or Off?

32-bit Internet Explorer is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IExplore.exe
and 64-bit Internet Explorer is located in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IExplore.exe

If you find these files, you can launch the application from there. If the application exists in the correct locations, then maybe the Search Index needs rebuilding.
