BSOD says Device Driver Attempting to Corrupt the system

I've checked all the specs of the HP P6710F computer from the HP web site:
Access Denied

possible hardware weakness in the specs I saw there - "internal 250w" listed for power supply. may not be adequate enough when using the computer for more than 12 hours straight or when having multiple usb devices connected

perhaps change/upgrade the power supply unit (PSU) to something like 400w or 500w from Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, Thermaltake, etc. a power supply upgrade is highly recommended (or required) when installing a more powerful graphics card onto that HP computer

In the past HP had been using mediocre power supplies from Bestec (I know because some of these Bestecs either fail or don't provide stable power - I'm using an older HP computer like M8417C and changed the PSU from the Bestec ATX-250-12Z to an Enermax EG465p (465watt) a few years ago - my HP computer rarely crashes now)

I have NOT installed a more powerful graphics card, as you can see from all my previous posts.
The ONLY thing I have done is increased the RAM.

This is driving me insane.

There does NOT appear to be any minidump file of this crash?!

That FRST tool i asked you run only produced shortcuts and urls

very odd

can you try it again, just run it DO NOT uncheck anything use the standard defaults
(never seen so many shortcuts!!)

Hi Bearcat,

had a look at the logs, seems to be a few problems.
RE AVG
please goto C/program Files x86 and C/Program Files and delete any AVG folders
REBOOT
then look in System config for this startup entry, AVG safe search IF its still there untick it
(control panel >> Administration Tools >> System Configuration >> Services)

can you please run the following repair tools

sfc /scannow
chkdsk /r

and this (SURT)

could easily take a couple of hours and look like its not running.


I can also see that you have had some security concerns, its possible that something is still lurking, im not a security specialist and suggest >>after<< your finished here shoot over to Bleepingcomputers and let them check you over

DID NOT find any AVG folders.

Am now running SURT.

Hi Bearcat,

SURT looks for and tries to repair corrupt system files.

Another log please

copy and paste this the command prompt
%windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please zip/upload to this thread.

for avg lets go another way

1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
3. Press the Fix button.
4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

then right click on ONLY CBS and CheckSur, select send to desktop, zip that and post
