I just purchased the ts5051 (not sure of the US alternative)
I am using PC win 7 x64
All installation went smoothly, drivers, software, all good. The printer is now on my system via USB. Appears as the default printer in printers and devices..great!
I try to print....NO PRINTER IS INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM...hmmm
I go to printers and devices, click on the printer and then on printer properties and....NO PRINTER IS INSTALLED...
I reinstall the drivers (updated from Canon). Same thing!!!
Something on my pc is blocking it. The scanner works but not the printer.
I have disabled windows firewall and malwarebytes......still the same.
I know the printer works as I installed it on my laptop and it's fine.
Canon tech support say it's a windows problem and can't fix this. It's definitely a Windows thing and I need to track it down.

Also it won't let me 'ADD PRINTER' from the printer and devices section, just gives me errors and says "Unable to install printer operation could not be completed error 0x000003eb"

Please if anyone can help fix this I would be so grateful.
I attach some pics, hopefully may help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi I would start over uninstall the driver and then go to programs and feature and uninstall the printer software and try installing it again.

Hi and thanks for your reply, however I have done this around 50 times over the past 3 days.
Why is windows blocking this printer???
how else could Windows block this apart from firewall or Antivirus?

Anyone else with some suggestions as to how windows could block communication between printer and comp?

Tried that too with no difference. In fact, I started getting the BSOD as soon as I plugged in the new printer. I even tried to 'upgrade-repair' my windows 7 from DVD only to get half way and it said, 'unable to continue' and put me back to where I was. I have scanned for viruses, malware etc but it comes up clean.
Managed to get the printer plugged in with the BSOF death and got windows to install its own driver, so once again it is installed and set to default printer.
I just noticed that the printspooler folder is totally empty! no printer is installed.?
How can this be? The comp sees the printer and is installed and yet the printspooler has no printer?
Pulling my hair out, please anyone with some knowledge here would be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to reformat and start again...HELP!!

I'm curious as to why it's using two null drivers. Also, in it's device properties, it shows it as a Disc Drive for the USB Device.

Hello ha33y
I have a TS6150 with the same drivers, and experienced similar problems. Do you have a wireless router? I completely uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it, connecting to the router via Wireless Direct. It is much easier to use.

Check the Canon website for the drivers: -

Canon : PIXMA Manuals : TS5000 series : Connecting the Printer to a Network

Click "Available Connection Methods" -"Wireless Direct."

- go to "Wireless Direct" then "Available Connection Methods" (blue text)

- go to "Using printer with Wireless Direct"

Follow instructions onscreen.
Note that you can also connect up to 5 devices: I have 2 PC's, 2 phones and a tablet connected and can print from all 5.
Hope that helps.

The short answer is install VueScan and see if it fixes the problem but if anyone wants to know more, keep reading.

This is an old tread but I see Canon still ripping off people with faulty and incompatible printer drivers.
I had a similar issue with my Canon CS9000F, I tried "everything" before calling the "outsourced" (and cheap) customer support.
An arrogant, rude and uneducated Indian guy (I wasn't able to understand his Indian English) after his basic text scripts failed he pretended me to "format" the hard disc and reinstall Windows because that was the problem!
I refused because the computer was a fresh install so it couldn't be Windows's fault.
He then pretended me to give him full access to my computer through Teamwiever and I also refused because I understood that that irritant and incompetent guy was doing training at my expenses.
Long story short, I gave up dealing with him because he was ruining my mood.
After reading "tonnes" of web pages I came to the conclusion to try VueScan.
I installed it and the scanner worked, it totally took 1 minute!!!
If I were you, I would return the scanner and in the future avoid touching any Canon scanner!

Very happy with this buid.
I struggled a lot to find all compatible parts since I wanted an Intel 1151 based motherboard so to be able to install Windows 7.
I chose this case because it has amazing air flow, it's sturdy and looks good.
The case included 1x 200mm front and 1x 120mm back fans, I added 1x 200mm on the top and 1x120 bottom fans and modded the panels with black stockings for women s
Canon Printers?

As a retired Computer/Printer tech, I have a two word solution to all Canon Printer Problems....
"GO EPSON"!

I used to work in a printer repair center, and when a Canon Printer would come in for repair, it might take two to three weeks for us to get a new part from Canon, even under warranty. :(

While on the other hand, if I needed a part for an Epson printer, I'd pick up the phone and call the Epson parts depot, and have the part by 10AM the next morning.:D

I'll be picking up a new Epson XP-6000 (AIO) Printer today. It prints directly on CD/DVD's.

Good Luck Mate!
TM
