Update your Win 7 installation media

Yes, there is a picture. I can see it in firefox.
Hmmm... not for me, as you can see.

I will report this again.

Was your picture present in the original post, or did you add it when you edited it subsequently?

Just checked. It downloads fine for me. Suggest you try again, it might have been a temporary glitch at your end.

Hi the new version leaves multiple *.wim files sources folder of different sizes and also does not clean them. Can this be fixed as I don't know what wim file I'm supposed to use?

The file in sources folder called install-original.wim is what the name suggests. Most people won't need it. Assuming you have sources\install.wim you can delete install-original.wim.

It is just there as a precaution. There have been some changes to the way simplix updatepack functions, which I have dicussed with the developer. In the next version, I might move install-original.wim or delete it.

If you have split install.wim, the source install.wim will still be there as well as the split install.swm files, obviously. The user can delete it, or move it somewhere else if they want to keep it.

1. The files needed in the sources folder are boot.wim and install.wim

2. Unless the user has created split wims, in which case the files needed in the sources folder are:
boot.wim and the install.swm files

Could you post a screenshot of the wim files in your sources folder?

Install-orig.wim is now not there. Also made a small adjustment to nt6repair.wcs which is on the bootable wim menu. If you have already used the most recent updatepack (dated 20.5.20), there is no need to do it again.

I have to thank you for that awesome solution to the Nvme ssd drive. I could not have done it without your packaged up solution.

Added KB4555449-x86-x64 (replace KB4550738-x86-x64)
Added KB4556836-x86-x64 with disabling telemetry and processor verification (replaces KB4550964-x86-x64)
The following updates are removed: KB2716513-x86-x64, KB2884256-x86-x64, KB2920188-v7-x64, KB3000483-x86-x64, KB3020393-x86-x64, KB3140245-x86-x64, KB4054998-x86-x64

Greetings SIW2. Thanks for the UpdatePack7R2-20.5.20.exe.
1. As the update includes eus and the latest kb45xxxxx stuff, does it mean the os created is eligible for future ms updates?
2. If not, can this be used to update wim backup of existing installation?
3. The following 4 updates deemed undesirable by dism++ appears to be included. Can these be ignored?
Code:
kb3126587
kb3133977
kb3161102
kb3184143
Many thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi All,

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with a problem I've been having that has me completely stumped!

I have a new Lenovo Ideapad 5ARE15 (AMD Ryzen 7 4800U with a Toshiba NVMe SSD (Kbg40znt512g))

It came with DOS installed and I had no issue installing Windows 10. It's just a pity I despise windows 10 and want win7 on it.

I'm having driver issues, I do not know if it is because of the NMVe or the USB3 drivers but I keep getting "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" error on the setup screen. I tried using WinCert, powerISO, Gigabyte-MSI-ASUS tools, CMD - everything to load drivers and hotfixes and every other recommendation online but to no avail. One unknown driver did get it partially installed but I got a bluescreen when it went to restart.

Which brings me to this thread! I thought I followed post #1 correctly but the boot only took me to WinPE from which I could not find the install.wim.

I'm not clear on the instructions in this thread. I have my Windows7 ISO put onto a USB using rufus. Do I add 7UPv50 folder to the root of the installation USB or simply to the root of the C: drive of the computer I'm working on? I tried both but when I try running 7UPDATERv50.cmd it starts extracting packages, asks me to select the installation media then I get this page:

PATH TO INSTALL>WIM IS
"H:"\sources\install.wim

PATH TO BOOT.WIM IS
"H:"\sources\boot.wim

PATH TO DISM IS
"amd64\DISM\DISM.EXE"

Press any key to continue...

Then when I press a key the window closes. This happens everytime and I dont' know where I'm going wrong. The path to the .WIM files looks wrong but I can't control this.

I attempted the DISM++ method but haven't a clue what I'm doing.

Need help, I can't do anything with this tool. I thought it had the NVMe MS hotfixes included, couldn't find any in the final modified WIN 7 folder (or in the 7UPv53 folder). It all succeeded as per first post but when I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 there was nothing there during the install process, once past the languge selection. Upon browsing the USB drive or the modified folder on the hard drive no hotfixes or a driver for my drive (a WD Blue 1TB NVMe M.2 drive) were to be found. There were many various drivers for other brands but no hotfixes or WD drivers. I am really not sure if I did sth wrong but I just followed what it said in the first post and seemingly it all went right. I have copied the final modified Win7 folder to a USB drive and went for the install, to no avail.

When you run the cmd file , it should extract the MS nvme hofixes into the updates\installx64 folder and the updates\bootx64 folder.

Windows6.1-KB2990941-v3-x64.msu
Windows6.1-KB3087873-v2-x64.msu

Are they there?

As far as I know, there aren't any WD oem nvme drivers for consumer editions, MS nvme hotfixes should suffice. There are some wd drivers for server os - might work for client win7

Hi SIW, everything is unpacked in three folder as it is supposed to be I guess, but one folder is empty. Installx64 folder is empty. Windows6.1-KB2990941-v3-x64 and Windows6.1-KB3087873-v2-x64 are instead found in the root folder UPDATES only (see pic).

The two ms nvme are moved out of the installx64 folder if simplix is being used. That is because they are included in the simplix pack and will be integrated into install.wim via the pack - or so simplix says.

If you are not using simplix pack, they should be in the installx64 folder

The two ms nvme should be in the bootx64 folder so they are also integrated into the bootable wim files.

In addition, the script will update the sources folder of the extracted-iso. You can check by looking at the properties of extracted-iso\sources\setup.exe

Ok, will try everything now again from the scratch. And correct me if I'm wrong - so if all I want to do is add the two hotfixes to the original x64 MSDN install, I don't have to use the pack at all? Just use the 7UPv53 folder without adding the pack into it?

Ok did it with no pack from the scratch. All hotfixes are now in their respective four folders Added all additional to the original install folder via 7up cmd. Succeeded. Copied the modified install folder to a FAT32 USB drive. The Usb recognized in BIOS as UEFI. All fine. Starting the fresh install. Passing the language selection, all fine. And then the pop up window to browse for drivers comes up again and again dead end, can't find where the bloody hotfixes are. I have no clue what to do when the window comes up. All I can browse is thru other hard drives on my Pc but I can nowhere find the hotfixes that would work how I need them, all I can see is the .msi files in the 7Up folder. I must be doing sth not right or what.
