I'm moving to windows 7 cause windows 10 is slow.

My laptop is from 2015 and it was originally windows 8.1 but i am downgrading back to windows 7 because even i am using an ssd then it boot slowly and i accidentally bump into something then i lost all my data. I cannot fix all my data (chkdsk and sfc) and windows 10 is buggy as hell and i can't take it. What browsers and antivirus are recommended for windows 7? Does onecore api work? If you don't what what it is, if you're running on windows xp you can run modern firefox builds also modern apps. I hope windows 7 works. I always overreact if hackers can hack my pc by just connecting to internet but pray to god it doesn't get hacked. I will move it in the future and install onecore api

What are the specs of your pc if its a 2 core pc that will be the problem? are you sure there will be drivers for 7 before you jump. Its best to make a backup disk image of 10 so you can role back if needed you could try mint linux as it boots to a live cd so you can see it works before install

I agree. It is hard to discuss a laptop when we don't know what model is and its specs. If the laptop was bought in 2015 and Windows 10 is slow then that could mean that it is a low end one.

I had a Dell laptop from 2010 with a Intel Core i5-450M @2.40GHz (2 cores/4 threads) CPU., It came with 4GB RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Pro. It was slow when I upgraded it to Windows 10 Pro. However, I solved that by upgrading the RAM to 8GB and replaced the hard drive with a 500GB SSD.

For a couple years the laptop was a dual-boot of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I did the free upgrade to Windows 10 so it ended up being a dual-boot of Windows 7 and Windows 10. I rarely use Windows 7 anymore so I should remove it and stick with Windows 10. For everyday use Windows 7 is obsolete. That is especially true since a lot of software no longer supports it.

There are two main issues here. First, can Windows 7 be successfully installed, and does it run well? Second, how safe is it to use in today's world?

First, regarding installation, are there drivers available? You could check with the manufacturer about this. You also need an iso to install it, plus a valid key to authorize it.

Second, regarding safety, there are differing opinions about this. some say they run it daily and don't even use any AV, and in some cases have never even updated it. This is obviously an extreme, even fringe, opinion. On the other hand, some say it should only be used offline. A more reasonable approach is to use it mostly offline, for those things you need it for, going online as needed, and with an up-to-date browser and AV. If your online behavior is "safe" (no visits to risky sites, caution in opening emails, clicking on whatever you see, downloading things you're really not sure about, etc.), you can probably use it all the time. 90% of internet safety comes down to user behavior.

My own approach is to use Windows 7 for the thing I really need it for, music creation. And use Linux for the bulk of my daily browsing. Best of both worlds.

but most of time, it's marketing.
Psychologically, let people worry about security, then upgrade hardware (computer)/software (Windows OS).
At least, within last ten years on my every Windows 7, no any infected issues. (I don't click any fishy links.)

(yes, on any of my computers, XP/7/8.1/10/11, no any infected issues. NOT sure if it's a proof that Microsoft did a good job. )

PC Security is almost entirely a behavioral issue, not a technology issue.

If someone gets a spoofed email from someone in their contact list telling them to look at this cute puppy dog video and they click on "CutePuppyDogs.exe" and click "Ignore" and "Yes" 20 times in a row while their email client, AV, and OS all desperately tell them not to run the program, and it installs a backdoor on the PC, that's not a technology problem. Any PC on earth will be compromised by that user behavior, regardless of OS or AV being used.

Try the mint linux as it boot to live cd it wont effect anything and will run slower off cd but you can get the experience risk free
