As I stated in the title I am getting sick and tired of Windows 10 a very short history then my question on Windows 7

Upgraded to win 10 when it was a free option, had issues
Microsoft remote accessed my computer 2 times to "try" to fix it.

I was considering buying a Windows 10 disk from Amazon.com but read so many bad reviews about product keys being locked etc.

So now I am 98% sure I am going back to windows 7

I know when you boot to the install disk it allows you to delete partition, format etc. However when I have formatted in the past I didn't feel it was truly removing all left over files from windows 10

If I decide to go back to Windows 7 I know it is supported until 2020 so I get another 3 years of updates which is good maybe by them Windows 10 will be less buggy.

How is the best way to make sure all data files on my OS drive are truly deleted before I boot to windows 7 Disk to reinstall that version of windows.

Sorry for my rant on Windows 10

I will appreciate any and all help to my question about making sure I get rid of all misc files on my OS drive before installing Windows 7 again

Thanks

It clears the log files. Windows behaves as if the previous os files aren't there. You will not be aware of them.

Cleaning the drive is usually to prevent someone else using a file recovery method, e.g. on a drive you are disposing of.

You could use clean all command

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

You have two choices:
- Install your Win 7 with the installation disk you have.
- Download Win 10 iso from here: Download Windows 10 You don't need a key (just skip), It will activate as you already had it installed in the past.

To start from scratch (clean all disk)
Boot with your Win (7 or 10) installation disk in UEFI mode. Go to install - advanced - delete all partitions - create new (windows will create the necessary partitions) and install on the big one.

Clean Install Windows 7

You had a full year to play with windows 10 before you decided to upgrade Windows 7

If there was anything wrong with it, it was something you did to it.

Just format the drive the same as you would any other time, you worry too much.

Seriously worried, run the clean all command or just buy a new drive for 7.

Data is never deleted from a drive, it just gets written over.

I did have a problem just a couple of times and both on SSD's where after formatting it left some junk at the beginning of the drive. It caused problems.

I used the Clean/Clean All command as other have posted about, on one SSD and it solved the problem. For S/G I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard to wipe the other SSD and that method also worked.

AddRAM is correct. Of course.
NO data is remove from a drive just because it is wiped or formatted. It just gets wrote over with "1" or "0" or new data.

I always follow the tutorial By Brink which Megahertz07 posted. It helps me to not forget things. Because I seldom do Clean Installs I forget things. My 3 brain cells need guidance.

Clean Install Windows 7

You can downgrade into Windows 7 if you have Windows 7 DVD, suggest you perform clean installation of Windows 7.

This is not strictly true.
I had been running W 10 since the free upgrade at first all went smoothly but there were many that had problems with the install.
The anniversary upgrade almost wrecked my PC which i managed to recover from.
Since then the continual bombardment of updates which you have little control over forced me to upgrade to W 7 and i am now enjoying using my PC once again. ;)

Hi,
Yep 10 has been hit and miss :)
Many ways to format a hdd or ssd
Transfer your personal files to a removable device and confirm on another computer all is good.

Then just clean install 7 you're activation key is still good I'd imagine
Then the only trick is to update win-7 which has been improved but is not automatic
windows update
