Hey everybody, I have a little problem here.

Today I just installed windows 7 home premium on my macbook pro, the install went smoothly and I got everything running well. I installed all the drivers for the mac from the mac OS X cd once windows 7 was installed so that the sound and everything else works. I then installed Left 4 Dead and steam and signed in on my steam account. Left 4 Dead updated, then I tried running it only for it to never open.. When I click launch it just says that it's loading, then the little box goes away, and nothing happens. I even tried loading it using admin and using XP and Vista emulations both with service pack 2 and 3. I know I definitely meet the minimum requirements for the game (brand new fully loaded macbook pro) so I'm not getting why the game won't run? Does it have to do with windows 7 or that i'm running it through sandbox on a mac? Although everyone says they are running it just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, I'll do that now and let you know if it works. I have it on disk but the updates were downloaded so I'll just try deleting everything and reinstalling by downloading it instead of from the disk.

It didn't work. Once again it said it was preparing to launch with the little box and the screen went black for a second then just back to the normal windows background. Same as last time. Any ideas?

Can it be something having to do with my video card? I don't know if it needs and update or something but while trying to get a screen saver running in the control panel all it says is "the screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D". Is there anyway to check all these settings to make sure everything's running ok?

I can't find anything about defraging the game when I right click. When I go to the properties of the game it says there is 0% fragmentation. I've tried restarting and all that several times.

In the game properties go to the Local Files tab at the top. From there you can choose to "Defragment cache files". It also wouldn't hurt to run the "Verify integrity of game cache..." option.

It has to be something with my video card because when I run a test it's saying that it has 0Mb for the graphics, system, and shared memory and total avalable graphics memory is not even detected. It also says my direct X version is 8.0 or earlier. What could be wrong?

Did you also try to Verify the integrity of the game cache?

You might find better help on a mac forum. I'm guessing your problem is that you don't have the correct driver installed for your video card or your laptop doesn't have a good enough card to run the game. Do you know what type of video card is in your mac book? Also, you said you installed the drivers from the OS X install CD. That CD contains Windows drivers?

It's : NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.8GHz configuration. I loaded the mac os x disk into the computer and it automatically did all the copying of files to make it run, including the sound. Some how there must be some drive missing or something

Your system specs say you installed the 64 bit version of 7 if that is right then try downloading and installing the drivers from here.

I have snow leopard which supports 64 bit programs, so I installed the 64 bit Windows 7. Maybe it's not working because I should have installed the 32 bit windows 7? Just an idea

I JUST saw that and downloaded it but i'm afraid to install it because under supported products tab on that site it doesn't say 9600M GT. Should I still try it?

It will not hurt anything to try. It just might not install.
