Hey guys, just had an issue pop up regarding access to my router. I've scoured the forum searching for similar topics but can't seem find to find anything fitting the exact criteria.

Anyways, some back story. I have a Dell Inspiron e1705 laptop which came preloaded with windows vista 32 bit home premium. Roughly 5 days ago I installed Windows 7 64 bit professional. Everything worked fine and dandy up until yesterday.

All of a sudden, my computer simply cannot access my router (D-Link, model: DGL-4300). I find this to be strange since everything was working great until this point, except for a sluggish connection which I am assuming was just my IP. The computer is able to detect the router, but every time i try to connect it fails. Access isn't limited... it's completely denied. Troubleshooting suggests that I reset the router, which I have done countless times at this point. Something also worth noting is that my friend's laptop, an Acer Aspire 5515, can connect flawlessly. It is running Vista.

I have no idea what the problem could be. Drivers are up to date; I've heard that an Office 2007 update might cause connection issues but I haven't really looked into that. Other things I've read suggest setting my router to be an unsecure network, but I find this to a be a bit unsettling.

Any insight is appreciated!

I would try the following
if you arent using homegroup disable IPv6 in network and sharing
next time it happens type cmd in search then ipconfig /flushdns
then ipconfig /renew
let us know the results
