Hi all! Great news. I partitioned my drive, installed a clean copy of vista, and then 64bit w7 ( it was an upgrade CD ).

This doesn't sound like a clean install to me.

True. But if he installed Vista first and then Win 7 over it he did another upgrade instead of a clean install.

How? I tried to do so on a brand new HDD last night and the key would not work (told me that it was invalid)

I would rather be running 7 as a clean install on a clean HDD so that my games perform to the best of their ability, since I bought this new rig so that I could play my games on high settings.

Also- is there a reason that my system uses almost 100% of my RAM when I run World of Warcraft?

Are you 100% on that? I'd rather not back up everything, spend hours doing a fresh install then have the same problem. It's lightning fast for everything else, which is why I want to keep it. What I was thinking was partitioning my HDD and having vista on it, so I can just reboot to game ( my boot up time is literally 20 seconds, so it doesn't bother me at all. )
)
Yes, it is definitely advisable to do a clean install rather than an upgrade.

I understand this, but what if it doesn't fix it? I appreciate your help but I'd rather a 100% definite YES that I wont have the same problem.

Don't expect a 100% blanket guarantee! Try some things or just live with it--your option.

Set up a dual boot if you can't figure out how to live with a "measly" frame rate of 40FPS in some games in Win 7. LOL!

i use gameboost from 10bit, its been upgraded for win 7 and works a treat, obviously my specs let my gaming down but it still makes a hell of a difference

No, it wipes vista then installs. You get the option to under "custom" rather than clicking "upgrade".
