boot.ini is a windows7 file?

ive just removed xp from my first partition, ive installed 7 in the second one. so now i want to remove the last file in first partition but im not shure whether they r from 7 or xp

Removing XP from a dual boot is not easy. Do not delete these files until you are sure your Win7 will boot, or you will be left with no bootable OS.

boot.ini is from XP not from 7.

actually ive two partitions c and e in c i had xp and in e win7 now ive removed from boot xp with easybcd and deleted the programs, users, and windows folders in c
now i just need to delete those files in the c root. by the way win7 boot correctly just need to delete those files

What steps did you use in EasyBCD?

Unless you re-wrote the Win7 boot manager, it will be booting through these files in the C partition from XP.

If you post the snip of your Disk Management, we should be able to tell if you can delete them or not.

The ntldr is the XP boot files.

If XP is there when Win7 is installed then the boot manager chain will go through XP.
If you delete these Win7 won't boot.

Your biggest problem is the boot manager will have to be on your "active, system" primary partition, they can not go on a Logical partition.

Download and install Partition Wizard Home Edition Free!, this will change your logical partition to a Primary partition.

From Partition Wizard, to start this operation, first select your Win7 E:/ partition from the partition list on the Partition Wizard main interface. In the top menu, click Partitions » under Modify menu, click Set Partition as Primary. By clicking Apply, you well complete this operation.

On one HD you are allowed three primary partitions and several logical partitions or four primary partitions and no logical partitions.

Your previous EasyBCD actions have just remove XP from your Boot Menu. Your boot manager is still on the C drive.

whath change if i make the e: a primary partition instead a logical partition?
shoudnt i keep the boot files in c: as this is a faster partition?

The boot files in your current C partition will not make anything faster.
Your OS should be in the first partition, which makes the HD reader arm work less and theoretically will be a bit faster.

If you make E:/ a primary partition you can put the boot manager there. Delete C:/ and move the space into E:/, which will become C:/ then. If you want to keep your current C:/ for something else, I would still recommend to move the OS partition to the first partition on the HD. This is not required but is generally accepted as the best HD structure.

What are you planning to do with the C partition?

i plan to reinstall win7 in c so i can keep os in c and docs and other data in e

so i think to leave all as is now

just looking 4 old xp files to delete

You can just leave the files there for now, this will let Win7 boot.
They will be removed when you re-install Win7 in the C Partition.

The C partition is a little small to install Win7, I would go with a minimum of 30GB, 40 GB would be better.

I recommend to do a clean install, this will ensure nothing will be in the C partition when Win7 is installed.

if i make a clean install in c formatting c ill keep the option to boot in the old ( e: ) win7 installation or i need to install in c without formatting it to keep the old boot option (as the boot files are in c)

Just use the format option, the new installation will see the old Win7 and add it to the new boot menu.
