Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Installation Issues

Yeah I'm giving up with Windows Installer, and I'm almost ready to just completely re-install Windows 7, as this would probably solve the problem (whatever it is) but it'd be nice if there was an easier way lol.

I had to do that a couple of times to get the Tech Preview to install. If you don't have a ton of stuff to backup, then I would definitely do that. Nothing like a fresh install to solve your problems.

i ran ccleaners registry cleaner and tried to install the beta again. still no luck and i cant reinstall office 2007 so now i have no office at all.

Have you tried to install Click-To-Run Office?

I'm surprised this wasn't caught in testing. Seems like a bug you want to get fixed before releasing it to the public. MS wants to make a good impression after all!

Yeah, no kidding. Every version of Office 2010 (Tech Prev, Click to run, Beta) has had installation and uninstallation issues. I guess MS is still riding to high from the buzz around Win7 to notice.

So, I uninstalled it, ran Ccleaner, deleted all the files related to office I could find, and this happened:

As depressing as a re-install can be at times, it is often the best answer. Experience has taught me this...............many......many times.

I don't think you need an invite, as it should be public now...but you will need a Windows Live ID to sign in.

Peaches is going to reinstall, since this will obviously take forever. Plus it'd be much simpler. After everything she's installed to get Office installed, I think her system clogged up a bit (its slower from what I could tell).

Well, sometimes that's the easiest route to go...especially with how quickly Win7 installs.

I just did that a couple of nights ago because I couldn't get something to install.

The few beers I'd had might have helped that decision though...lol

im not sure if this information helps but just for kicks i tried to install a copy of office xp. during the install i got an error message saying that the installation source was corrupted. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that was the error that I got most often. Use the Microsoft Installer cleaner that I linked to earlier, and that should help that problem.

DNG or Peaches: I'm assuming install worked perfect after a clean install. Seems Office's installation procedure needs some work...
