I don't get it. i upgraded from vista to 7 when it came out. a few problems i have that i need explained by someone who knows more than me are:

1. How come when i raise or lower my volume it doesn't show on the screen that my volume is being raised or lowered.

2. How come when i use caps lock it does not show on my screen that its on all caps or not. (i need this because on passwords i have no way of knowing.)

3. How come when i press my battery button it does not display how much battery i have left.

it seems like none of my F1 - F12 keys work.... why is this and how do i fix it so it shows up on the screen like it did in vista.

another problem i have is when i type fast, my keyboard spazzes out and it types random stuff, it freezes, and it opens files/folders all at the same time.

thank you

For one through three: This has never happened before, and never will.

Sounds like the keyboard may be bad, or set to a different layout.
Did you do an upgrade from Vista, or a clean install?

1-2-3 and F key issues are likely driver related - check with you laptop manufacturer for updates. Typing speed issue sounds like overloading the buffer which could also be a driver issue if it never happened before although it could also be a latency timing issue.

Most or all of the features that you list aren't part of Windows. They were provided by third-party utilities.

Perhaps your PC's manufacturer has WIn7 compatible utilities available for download? (Vista ones may well work.)

The keyboard stuff is more worrisome. Maybe I type too slowly to produce the problem. Are there any errors listed in Event Viewer that are relevant?

Oh, hello this is a laptop. My mistake.

In that case, that voids what I said about 1-3. This does look like a driver issue then. If you have the original driver CD, look for Seven drivers. If not, visit their website and get the newest drivers (for Seven).

Ah, they work but don't display the same as in Vista...that's not a driver issue...it's a Win7 design issue.

That is a driver issue. It could still work, but the driver provides the onscreen functionality.

the typing speed did happen with vista. i had to call them and they fixed that with drivers for vista. but the drivers did fix it.

Then again, you need to go to the manufacturers website and get ALL the drivers for SEVEN.

The WIndows 7 upgrade is not a factory recovery disk. If you got the Upgrade Kit from your manufacturer, there should be an apps/drivers disk with it to find this software. This is tech supported by the manufacturer. Otherwise such a disk may have come with the laptop.

If you have no such disks then as stated they should be available as software downloads on your manufacturer's support downloads page for your model.

As a last resort, call your manufacturer's tech support to ask how to get these apps that you like.

They may tell you that they don't support upgrades to Windows 7, if you did it yourself without their kit.

If so, politely hang up and call back inquiring as though you need to replace them in Vista.

If they tell you you must do a full factory recovery, tell them you just did one and the apps are not showing up. They may yield the individual app that way.

Same Problem but with Different Case

What is your problem exactly? Certain functions stopped working which are provided by factory software as described in OP? Tell us exactly what features stopped working.
