I would try the suggestion. Did the HDD come with any drivers? If so, install them.Unplug your external drive. Go to device manager and uninstall all the USB drivers. Reboot and Windows will reinstall the USB drivers. Try the external drive again.
The drive works fine, Explorer will copy single files, but not entire folders.
