Windows 7 with Radeon HD 5770

Ok i just bought a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 intel mobo, Intel Core i5-750 / 2.66 GHz processor, Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4870 1Gb graphic card and 4Gb of Kingston 1333mhz ddr3 memory, i'm running it all on windows 7 ultimate 32meg.
I'm also experiencing the same problems it just keeps crashing, some times i get a blue screen but it's on and off so fast i don't have time to read it, other times i get "Display driver ati radeon family stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and some times it will just freez up.
Will be interesting to see what gigabite say curtis, maybe there is a problem with there P55 mobos, i duno but it's driving me nuts.
Please keep us updated when you get anything from gigabite or you find a solution thx in advance.

Did you set the Vdimm and timings manually for your ram modules in the bios?

If the Gigabyte Radeon card is factory OC, probably a heat issue. Underclock it to test.

Try to update the bios of the card!

I have the same card on my PC, and haven't had any issues so far. I have a Phenom II x4 965 processor, unlike your i5's.

I have occasionally had a similar problem on my laptop, Intel GMA x3100 965 chipset, an integrated card. It happened twice, both times were soon after Windows Update downloaded a new driver for it. A simple system restore solved the problem.

As has been previously suggested, it could be an issue with overheating. Try turning up the case fan speed, assuming you can.

I'm pretty sure it's not a over heating problem, as it mosty happens when the pc is started up in the morning (tho it can crash at anytime) i have also added a extra fan in my tower, and this card is not overclocked and come's with a zalman heatsink.
I really don't want to start messing with the Bios, maybe i'm useing the wrong drivers i duno: /i tryed some ones for windows 7 and it seemed worse, useing vista drivers atm, i still have the problem tho, even thinking to install vista or Xp just to see if it still happens: / I'm just a beginner to computers tho really :-)

I have the same problems!
Gigabyte P55 motherboard + i5 + HD 5770

3dmark06, heaven benchmark, Call Of Pripyat Benchmark - they all crash.
The screen becomes usually black or gray, sometimes with vertical lines.

I'm pretty sure it's not a over heating problem, as it mosty happens when the pc is started up in the morning (tho it can crash at anytime) i have also added a extra fan in my tower (...)
I have the same situation!

The only temporary "solution" I have found is to manually set the card fan speed. I think it crashes very seldom then - but still can.

There are lots of people with 5770/5750 issues on ati forums. What's wrong with this card?!

I am currently getting some assistance from Gigabyte and will let everyone know as soon as I have something concrete.

How many people here have Gigabyte P55 mobos and Gigabyte 5770s just out of interest?
Please keep me posted. I have not heard back from Gigabyte yet, lucky you.

I've got an i5 750 on a GA-P55M-UD4 with the latest BIOS and a Sapphire 5750 and I have the same problem. I submitted a report to Catalyst Crew Feedback and to Gigabyte support. I have heard nothing back from Gigabyte yet.

FYI, this is NOT an overheating problem. The issue does not occur when the Catalyst drivers are uninstalled, and when they ARE installed, CCC reports the card idling in the low 30s. That is NOT overheating. These cards are rated in the range of 100C. My system is not overclocked at all and nothing has been manually set in the BIOS, everything is auto. I did try setting the stock settings manually, but it changed nothing.

This could be your problem. Adjust the bios for specific RAM modules in use in relation to Vdimm and timings.

The issue is not related to any version of drivers as it happens to users all across the spectrum.

I did, it didn't make a difference either way. A lot of people are having this issue I really don't think RAM is the issue here.

It would certainly appear that it is an issue with i5's and HD 5750/70's
Try installing the latest Beta drivers, or if that doesn't work, you could contact the ATI technical support, or the tech support for where ever you brought the card from.

I encountered the same problem for 21days before returning the card to Newegg.com. I tried everything, read the AMD forums, asked for help here etc. The only thing that seem to work was RMA the card and get a new one. It seems to be working so far (touches wood). I did not install the CCC, just the video driver, I am using 9.10.

So... I've read that a few people have actually solved this issue by setting the power option to never put computer to sleep.

Not sure if this 'solution' holds any water though... Just tryin' to help.

That's because the issue, as I've been saying, is most likely related to other drivers on the system and not the video card driver itself.

Hi everyone

Been having the same problem and I'm beginning to get frustrated. I tried updating the chipset driver and used the 9.11 driver. My system crashed 3 times and im doing nothing it's just idle. I will try to use the driver sweeper and see how it goes.
