I have Windows Premium on an HP Laptop G60-535DX. Whenever I use either IE or Firefox; a tab keeps opening up "Add Search Providers to Internet Explorer". I've added all that I want. I've closed the tab, and as soon as I open a new tab, the same "Add Search Providers tab opens again. How do I stop it, permanently?

Thanks,
Steve

Go to upper right, search providers. Click on the little down arrow, next to magnifying glass. Click on manage then check, stop programs from suggesting changes to providers. Good Luck. Tell me if this works out.

Tried your idea. The box was unchecked. I checked it, but the problem is still there. That tab still opens in both browsers.

Goto IE Options and check the startup page. If the search provider link is there, remove it.

You were right; it was listed right under my home page(in Internet Explorer). I deleted it, but it came right back, when I restarted IE, and still shows up in Firefox. This is starting to tick me off.
Edit: I also posted this at PCQ&A and one member said to check to see if in fact I had a default search provider. I do, it's Bing.

The problem is fixed; as I mentioned the link for 'Add Search Providers' was right under the link for my home page; in othe words, they were both listed for my home page. I temporarily changed my home page, made sure that tab was closed, went back to PCQ&A and reselected that as my home page. The same situation was there in Firefox.
