Multi-boot/Dual-Boot Windows XP on Windows 7

I'll PM you the serial number, and then you can tell me what to download, because I would just end up downloading everything. lol

I was wondering you might need my devices.

Use both Chipset downloads, video, then check your Device Manager to see which Network adapter, Sound, and Touchpad driver your netbook has and download those too.

Take your time, you can stretch a project like this out so it doesn't burn you out

You have a tutorial there, shoot me any questions.

You will be experienced by the time this is over! And Nlite is one of the coolest programs out there. If you got carried away, you could customize your whole XP on those tabs! (Win7 too, using Vlite)

Err? What's Chipset? I don't find that in the Gateway website.
I think Chipset is motherboard...
And I really don't care much on customation except installing it and working fine.

motherboard - use both unless you can narrow it down from specs. It will have your Storage controller which is why the bluescreen - XP needs a driver for hard drive controller which is too modern for that older XP installer's drivers.

Can't download? Why not?

So it's best to download everything anyway right? And I won't have to deal with looking for what I need?

I have no idea why. I just click download now, but nothing happens. No pop-up of the file. Can you try it yourself? Is it maybe because of Firefox?

Yes, the download box may pop up underneath the window you're in. Save to card if it will store them til you slipstream into XP

I use IE8 which comes with Win7. Firefox should open a download box. Look underneath, or on taskbar

How did you download everything before?

Yeah it opens, but like it takes too long. >.>

Anyways, is it fine if I just download everything and slipstream every driver I downloaded into it? Anything happens?

Don't know what to tell ya. It's workin fine here. Try Internet Explorer 8. Works better than ever.

Anyways, is it fine if I just download everything and slipstream every driver I downloaded into it? Anything happens?
Just waiting for an answer. :|

Sorry, yes. Take your time to get them in correctly.

Then proceed to Make ISO and it will compile an ISO for you, or just use the files you copied and it will have them slipstreamed in, with a log now in amongst the files of what you added.

Which did that USB flash you made use, files or ISO?

I'm still downloading some, but that's not my question.

I open the .rar file right? Or do I just slipstream it like that? Or extract and slipstream?

I didn't understand your question o.o

You need winrar to open a rar file. View attachment 41856

you'll need to extract files to browse to drivers

Here's what you used to make flash bootable I believe:

CompuPodia: Installing Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008/7 from USB (GUI Tool)

Does it use files or ISO?
It uses files.

When you slipstream the drivers in, it places them into the files you first start from, when you make the copy to load into Nlite.

So make a copy of your XP files onto your desktop, load those into Nlite, and later use those same files to create your flashstick.

I would still make an Iso in the final step, saved also to the desktop so you have it as a backup to extract files if needed (you can use Winrar to extract) or if you ever need to burn an XP CD for your netbook.

I'm hittin the sack here after SNL. Back around noon tmw.

In Nlite, what do I do here?

In Nlite, what do I do here?

There are two chipsets given on product specs page:

Mobile Intel® 945GSE Express Chipset (DDR2 400/533/667 MHz)
Mobile Intel® 82801GBM Chipset

Run this quick audit and see what chipset is in there: View attachment 41860

Look in the Device Manager for the exact name of the Storage Controller
You will want the one in the screenshot named the same.

Did any disks come with that netbook? Was XP originally on it?

How do I check the chipset that I have?
