Hi,

I have an issue that has been going on for months. I'm getting tired of it.

My PC time is always (about ~85% of the time) wrong by hours ( slower ).
The only way to get it back in-sync is when i click on 'Update Now' under Internet Time Settings. But that doesn't always help. Sometimes, i'll persistently get some sort of errors when trying to update the time.

Here's what i have done:

  • Checked BIOS time and made sure it's right
  • Changed from time.windows.com to something else but that doesn't fix
  • Format my PC ( clean format ) but it's still happening

Need some expert assistance in this. And oh, by the way, i have no firewall except for the default one that came with windows.

Thanks !

How slow is it?

Differs from time to time.

Yesterday, it was late by 6+ hours. Today, by 40+ minutes. Not consistent.
And it always happens when i turn on my pc. Restart doesn't give me issues.

Nope. Never checked it to be honest. But i think that's not the case since everytime i check BIOS clock, it's always correct. Only the one on system tray.

Just to be sure, did you:
Left click on clock
Change time and date settings
Go to Internet time Tab on top

There you see this computer is set to automatically sync,

Then go to change settings and you see, with windows.com etc.

Normally the CMOS battery would be the cause of clock not showing the correct time, but if you are properly in sync. it should work.

Just to be sure, did you:
Left click on clock - Yes
Change time and date settings - Sure did
Go to Internet time Tab on top - A'ha

There you see this computer is set to automatically sync, - Yeap. "This computer is set to automatically synchronize with 'time.windows.com'."

Then go to change settings and you see, with windows.com etc. - Certainly. The box is check and i had it at time.windows.com

Normally the CMOS battery would be the cause of clock not showing the correct time, but if you are properly in sync. it should work.

Response in Red.

Don't know if it matters but when i turn on my PC and time is wrong, i'll update it. If it's successful, it will not go out of sync as long as my PC is on. Even restart doesn't mess the time up. Only when i turn it off and back on a couple hours later, then it will mess up.

Cheers.

It sounds like you may have another setting wrong. Go to help and support, enter time and then follow the instructions for setting time. Pay attention to daylight savings time, time zone etc. You may have one of those setting wrong. But always remember, even a stopped clock is right at least twice a day. Sorry, just could not resist.

Ok, just thought that I would throw that out there. Had issues with the BIOS clock throwing everything else off because of a CMOS battery that wasn't maintaining a good charge.

Thanks for your contribution, you helped more than you realize. Because we cannot actually look at these computers, any solution is trial and error. Your contribution, in this case was to offer a very valid solution, and now we know that was not the cause. Thank You.

Sorry for the late reply. No idea why but after a couple e-mail notification, it stopped ( always happens here ).

But whatever it is, i'll refer to the link and do everything i can. But if it's still going out of sync, i'll just have to live with it. Never happens when i was on XP or Vista. Well, it is what it is. 7 probably doesn't like me too much. :P

Thank you for all replies, help and assistance.

TY for trying to rep. I am just glad that I am able to help you. Just for your own information, if you go to the user control panel, you can see the last 10 people that you gave rep to. The policy is that you can only give rep a subsequent time, if you have repped 10 others.

Ahh yes. It was for this post.

Well anyways, mods could mark this as solved since there's really nothing much that can be done except what was said here. Thread reported. ;)

LOL, guess I helped out more than once. In any case. More free information for you. When you want to mark a thread as solved. On the top right, you see 3 icons. The one to the right of the rep icon (you know that one), you click and then just write solved for the reason that you are reporting the post. Then the Mods will take care of it. Thanks again for trying to rep and helping out the mods.
