Here is something of interest. Have you seen it?

http://www.mediagateusa.com/assets/download/NDAS_Software_User_Manual.pdf

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.3
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.1

If this is your pc's ip details, then you need to somehow get the medigate to also include this subnet mask and default gateway.

he said it does... its 10.1.1.10
subnet: 255.255.255.0

i know it doesn't ask for dns, i was looking into the manual on it.

10.1.1.11
and leave 2-10 for static...

Alright I need you to open up CMD

type in: ping 10.1.1.10

post the resuts pls

As I have already mentioned, I have setup the file sharing & IP protocols inWin7 as I had in WinXP as per
page 25 of the manual.
All the settings on the Mediagate have not been altered from what I had when onWinXP.
The confusion I'm having is in the Home Network setup of Win7 where I have set all my hard drives to share
as I had in WinXP.

Well I was hoping you would ping the device to see if there were any errors.. if there were, they may be a problem with firewall or something like that.

Did you check the firewall to make sure that the ports were enabled for file and printer sharing

Turn of the password protect, and turn on the guest account.
also make sure that it is set to the 40 bit securty and not the 128

Yeah i knew it! you got something blocking the connection to the device. I bet you that it is some security features with windows 7... you may have to knock the security down old school with it.

What kind of router do you have? make model

What about the gateway? How is W7 going to be able to reach the mediagate if it doesn't know which gateway to go thru?

DNS is primarily for internet access. To connect to the mediagate, DNS is not required.

Hey, am I missing something here?

The Mediagate device is on the same network as the Win7 PC, unless the network cable connecting Mediagate to Win7 is busted, it should PING no matter what... I assume the Mediagate device is connected on the LAN interface of Belkin router, right?

There's no need to put "Default Gateway" or "Gateway" on anything unless you want the said device to connect to the Interweb, applying IP address with same network address should suffice.

The router in this case is the gateway. To be able to ping the mediagate, W7 has to know that it is going thru the router, which means gateway.

Yeah I dont see why not....

Just follow the manual to set up sharing and that's it.

I also found your router i think.. let me know if i am right

http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/f1pi243egau_usermanual.pdf

I have any earlier version of that router which dose not have the VOIP phone.
It does not have a Zone alarm installed
