I would like to hide my Windows 7 partition ?

I am not really a fan of AOL either. But that's what I started with years ago and now everybody has this mail address. One advantage is that I can go from system to system without having to worry about mail. I can still retrieve my mail from years ago.
Interestingly enough my wife gets along with it very well. She has only 2 programs on her little laptop, AOL and Word and since 3 years she does all her work with that - never touches any browser other than AOL. And as an avid crafting blogger she spends at least 5 hours per day on the system. She is always puzzled that I have all these hickups. Maybe AOL needs a "clean" base to operate correctly.

I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe

I have Windows 7 on one drive and Vista on another,

I install all my programs to the E:\Programs Files directory. If I install in Windows 7 and want to be able to use it in Vista, I have to change to Vista and install it there as well.

I have not had any problems doing this and I've saved hundrds of megabytes of space.

Hmm, Greg - unfortunately there are. The other day I uninstalled AOL on my Win7 and it also uninstalled AOL on my Vista - even though they are on seperate disks and not double booted. The uninstaller just inspected all the disks/partitions to find anything that said AOL and deleted it. It was no big deal to reinstall it, but I was baffled.

i have pull my post with the exception of my first post in this thread. having to repeat myself was taking away from the topic at hand. i understand that some members have their own views, however the op and myself asked for help doing something not for editorials or opinions. i do in fact have several programs if installed in 7 in one partition will bleed-over to 7 in the other partition. so yes i do have a real reason for wanting os completely hidden from each other. as for finding the program that will do this i have all ready searched with no luck. i do know that the program exist because i have used it in years past, and if it existed i am quite sure that there are other programs out there just like it. so please only post if you can provide the op and myself real help.

You can't hide a whole partition from something low level like the Computer Management tool.

what i should have said is with the right program the drive would be locked from changes by computer management. so windows explorer and any programs being installed would not see it.

Ok,, here's the deal....

You can hide the drive,, it may not even show up in computer management,,, but,, can still be gotten to and accessed using something like BartPE.

You can use the security of NTFS to keep people out of folders and files, but again, with the right tools, they aren't fully secured. (see last 2 sentences)

If hiding partitions the way you are attempting was a viable solution for any kind of security, believe me, it would be all over the net and utilized heavily to thwart hack attacks, among other things.

So, there are things that can be done, but not in the way you are looking for.

Hence, Bitlocker and Truecrypt type tools as well as bio-security.

The only fully secure PC is one that is not used for anything.
