Main Hard Drive isn't letter C:

Hi,
I had Ubuntu 9.10 on my PC and decided to change to 7. It didn't recognize the main partition so it formatted it, and installed. When the installation was done, my main hard drive letter is E: . I tried changing it through Disk Management: it gave me ''The parameter is incorrect''. I tried editing the MountedDevices registry key: it gave me problems and I had to system restore back to normal.
Is there anyway I can change the drive letter? Maybe with Gparted?

You are probably going to give yourself a bunch of trouble by changing it why not just leave it the way it is?

ken is right.
without going thru much hassle (? -- depends, huh) you'd probably have to reinstall windows. more than likely, what happened was you installed windows with an external hdd or flash drive plugged in, which when windows installed, assigned E:\ to the hdd

Yup, if you care, unplug all USB thumbdrives, or card readers and all other harddrives in the system. then reinstall with just your cdrom and primary HD installed.

This "problem" has been an issue as far back as at least win2k, maybe even NT. I've just adopted the procedure of unhooking all other drives but the primary during firstinstall, then putting the other drives in after the OS is installed.

Well, I think I had my USB drive connected while installing...
I'll reinstall Windows 7...
