Hello,

Installed a new program, and apparently the Drivers that were on the disk were not installed, or they were old versions.

Windows "offered" to find new Drivers. I said yes, it did apparently, and now the program runs.

Anyway, how can I check what Drivers, and what versions of them, are actually being used by this program ?

Might as well also ask: I'm using, I think, the 64 bit version of W7. If a program is written as a 32 bit application, is W7 smart enough to default to 32 bits, and run it O.K. ?

Thanks,
Bob

Robert,
You show your operating system as being XP on your posts. Is this correct?

WIN key (that's the one with the funny looking wavy flag on it) + Pause/Break key

That combo will get you to information about your windows version, your system, whether your Windows has been activated, etc. Now that all assumes that you actually have some version of Windows installed rather than XP.

From OP: Drivers And Their Versions ? How To Determ.

Hi,

Thanks for help.

I'm using W7, the 64 bit version.

How can I tell what Drivers particular program is using, and, most important for me, what their version is ?

Thanks,
Bob

OS
Windows 7 64bit
WIN key | type DEVMGMT.MSC | Enter key

Select the device of interest | Right-click on same | Choose Properties | Driver tab

I've never worried about it. I just let MS update.

Win key | type SYSDM.CPL | Enter key | Hardware tab
Now you will notice that you can also get to Device Manager from here.
What we're interested in this time is the Device Installation Settings button
Click the Yes button if not already selected and click Save Changes (if you made a change).

From OP

Hi,

Thanks again,

Not too sharp with this stuff, so please bear with me.

It's not a Device I'm interested in.

It's an Application (program) that I want to see what Drivers, and their version, the program is utilizing.

Thanks,
Bob

Robert,
You can look in the "Program Files" folder and then the subfolder for the particular app and you also might want to consider contacting the manufacturer of the applications.

Really think you're going on a wild goose chase. What's the real problem?

Drivers usually goes to c:\windows\system32\drivers....or part to the new folder created by your new program
