I've tried everything to try and get Starcraft to display in game correctly, but nothing has worked. Any ideas??? Just start throwing them out.

In addition to that you can try reporting the bug to Microsoft, since explorer.exe is the cause of it.

Open Notepad, and copy this into it:

taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
E:\"Blizzard"\"Starcraft"\"Starcraft.exe"
start explorer.exe

Change the directory to the location of your Starcraft folder, keeping the quotes where they are. After this, press Ctrl+S, and save as type: All Files(*.*). Name the file *.bat, where * is the filename. Save it and run the new file, and you should see the problem resolved.

That seems to have solved the color issue. I still have another problem though. The screen has lines flashing across the screen and a black patch up in the upper left corner. Here's a bad image of what it looks like.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4458/starcraftproblem.jpg

The green shows the splotchy area and the green lines show the lines that flicker across my screen. Any ideas on how to fix that as well?

Moochmaker, that screen shot looks like there are artifacts by the dozen.

If your card is OCed, STOP. If it is not, it might be going bad. Does this occur on any other games?

Na. It doesn't happen in any of my other games that I know of. The video card is practically new. I got it near the end of last year. Shouldn't be that kind of issue.

Odd. It may just be going bad.
Do you have another card you can try? Do you have the latest drivers? Have you used previous drivers that cause no problem?

Well, it's hard to think back on those. I did try installing new drivers to no avail. I through it was working on my previous graphics card, but it wasn't really a graphics card. It was an integrated graphics card which is why I wanted to get a better and improved graphics card. I've been looking around the internet and determined it could be either 1) an issue with nVidia graphics cards specifically or 2) it could be artifcating of the game where the game is just too old and won't work for 7 at this point. Regardless, the .bat file fixed the color scheme, but the graphics continue to perplex me. Again, a redescription of what I have is as follows. In the top left corner, where the single player button is, a black box flickers on the screen. On the entire left side of the screen, black lines flicker everywhere. Some people have this issue as well, but I've tried many things and still can't come up with an answer. Perhaps I'll just have to go without for a while. :?

Scratch what I said earlier. I went back to Warcraft 3 to see if it had any problems. Low and behold, it does. I tried reinstalling the game to no avail. Not sure if it's a graphics problem as well, but if it were, something definitely might be up with the card. Although I have no problems running most my other games. I'll let you know if I have any other games that have problems.

Ya. I'm running back off my integrated graphics card and have no issues with games at the moment. The card probably was the issue. Hope after I get a new one I won't have any problems. :?

Well. As I mentioned a long time back, my graphics card had gone bad and Starcraft wasn't working properly. nVidia fixed my card (fan issue) and sent it back. Since then, I have upgraded to a much better HD monitor and cable now. But, as I wanted to play Starcraft (the original) again, I tried it out to see if there was any problems. Again, the coloration is all screwed up in the game. I remember that when I switched back to my integrated graphics card, the game ran perfectly, but on this GeForce 9400 GT, I get nothing but problems. The main problem is that when I go into the game, the left side of the screen goes crazy and a bunch of lines show up on the screen as well as a big black box in the upper left corner. I ask again, is there any fix for this or does my graphics card have a problem with the game itself.

Note: None of my other games have graphics issues that I know of. Just Starcraft.
