Here is the back of my motherboard, as you can see the DVI plug's nuts are too short and the plug is not screwed in. What can be done to fix this?

There's no picture, but you don't really have to worry about the DVI screws. They're really just there to secure the cord in the case that it's moved or tugged on. As long as you don't tug on it or attempt to move them while attached you'll be fine.

Picture is fixed now.

I would really like it to be secured as I often reach behind the case. Is there anything that can be done?

It looks to me like it's screwed in okay. It really won't be a problem unless you pull on the cable as though you were going to remove the connector, like you would pull out the plug. Getting your hands back there won't dislodge it, and neither will moving the computer around. It's actually more secure than you might think. Even if you gave it a good hard tug, I doubt that you'd break the connection before the connector reached the screw retainers.

The alternative is to pick up some new jack screws for the board's DVI connector with a deeper nut on them that allows the screw to go in farther. They're pretty easy to replace. You might have an old serial or parallel card laying around you could nick some from.

It is not screwed in at all. It is held on by friction.

I really want the the plug to be screwed in.

Replace the anchor screw/nut on the mobo backplane with taller ones. See MicroCenter.

You must have done the above while I was editing.

If I'm looking at the picture right, the connector is in solid. Are the screws bottoming out on the nuts, and they just won't screw in any farther? If so, you need to replace the nuts with something with a deeper nut part. The same if the screws don't make contact at all.

If they are actually screwed in as far as they go, the connector is pretty secure. You'd have to give it a good pull to dislodge the cable.

Yes, I had to re-upload the picture.

Yes, they are not long enough. I will replace the nuts with longer ones.

I see that Micro Center is based in the US. Do they ship to Canada at a reasonable rate? Is there a Canadian source where I can get the nuts?

I see. Thanks.

What do I search for? I am unsure. And a preliminary search shows some products come in packs of 50 etc. I only need 2, can they offer only two?

Aren't those the same thing as motherboard standoffs? Have any of those laying around (mobo standoffs)?

You should be able to go to any local shop to pick those up.
Go to a smaller place and they will likely give you a couple for
nothing.

I fixed it. I used pliers to unscrew the nut from the plate and then I partially screwed it back in (so some of it was sticking out).

That was enough for the plug screw to get a grip on the nut, then I turned it a couple of times and now it's tight.
