Hard drive makes clicking noise

Recently my Toshiba Portable hard drive has been making a clicking noise when I plug it in in intervals of 1 seconds. Does that mean its failing (PS: Its only 2 months old)

It's a strong possibility. Most drives that fail do it in the first few weeks. If it didn't make the noise before and now it does.....I would make an image to have ready in cased it fails. Make an image every two days and keep an eye on it. It could be something else, but it sure sounds like a bad drive to me.

Since the computer is so new I'd contact Toshiba as soon as possible too to see about a replacement.

Is this the same PC you posted of concerning the 90 degree temps?

Is that an internal or an external harddrive. It was not clear to me whether you talk about a portable Toshiba harddrive or a portable Toshiba PC's harddrive.
If it is an external harddrive, I can tell you that a couple of mine make clicking noises too - since about 2 years.

some clue can make noise is about the bolt loss or the set up not flat. and when i'm got like this problem, i just make sure the hardware location.

Tell my why I had a stack of 20+ dead drives that lasted 5 years or so if most drives that die will do so in the first few weeks.

Out of the 50+ drives that I have owned, only 1 died in in less than 2 weeks, Western Digital 1 TB Black. The rest usually died after 3 years. One of my drives is going out as I type this so I am copying the contents to my 2.5" portable drive.

Realistically, all drives will fail, it's just a matter of when.

Three years is a reasonable life span for a hard drive, though many survive longer. Your wealth of aged drives is testament to solid production quality control.

Any production defects that escape quality control will manifest themselves rapidly due the fact that a hard drive is mechanically sophisticated and functions within an incredibly narrow range of tolerance.

This is the 90 comp but its an extern drive that is making this noise. And all that is on the drive in movies that I have on another drive. Ps, it is oy doing this weh plugged into my laptop
