2049, please do not post with obnoxious fonts like that. It only turns people off to reading the post.

When you can ask politely, I will do what I can for you.

Partition Magic is dangerous and should not be used. It has been finally been withdrawn by Symantec/Norton but some other software distribution sites still have it available.

The problem is that Vista and Windows 7 create partitions in a different way from the tradition which everyone kept to up to and including XP, that partitions always start of cylinder boundaries.
Other partition managers can cope with the new type of partitions, but not Partition Magic. It reports them as being corrupt and if you let it "repair" them you lose all your data.
PartitionMagic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Many years ago PMagic had a great reputation when it was the only GUI partition manager which could do non destructive resizing etc. Then Symantec bought it :( but they never updated it for modern systems.
Nowadays many other programs have surpassed it, including some good free ones such as gparted and commercial ones such as Acronis and Paragon.

To repair your lost partition, I recommend you try TestDisk
TestDisk - CGSecurity

In its "deep scan" mode, it will search the hard disk for the start of partitions and can recreate the partition table entry for them.

I should add:
Simply installing Partition magic should not have done any damage to your partitions. You must have run it and made some changes. As you didn't tell us what you actually did in Partition Magic it's hard to guess if it could be fixed.
Anyway, the testdisk program I linked to is very good at rescuing accidentally deleted partitions, but you have to read its documents carefully, to use it.

First, please uninstall Partition Magic. It is no use to you on a computer running Vista or Windows 7.

About the TestDisk program...
First download the version of TestDisk for Windows:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk-6.11.3.win.zip

Save that downloaded zip file somewhere you can find it, maybe on your desktop.
When it has finished downloading, go to the desktop (or the folder you saved it in using Windows Explorer).
Right click testdisk-6.11.3.win.zip and extract it. In the new folder that makes, double click TestDisk.exe to run the program.

This page has full instructions for how to use the program:
TestDisk Step By Step - CGSecurity

To simplify what it says...

Every page has a menu. Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the right menu choice, then press Enter, and it will go to the next step.

On the first screen, use the up/down arrow keys to highlight "Create" for the new logfile, then press Enter.

On the next screen, you pick which hard disk to work on.
That's easy if you only have one hard disk :)
Pick the right disk and press Enter

Next you see a list of the different types of partition table.
Yours is Intel/PC so select that and press Enter

Then it shows a list of partitions which are in the partition table. Maybe it will only show your C: partition. If your D: partition is not in the table, we shall fix that later.

Select Analyze in the menu and press Enter

In the result of Analyze, maybe it will only see one partition (C)
so select Quick Search and press Enter

Now it shows you what it found on the disk.
If that list makes sense (it shows both partitions now, and the sizes are correct) select Write and Press Enter. Then it will make a new correct partition table for those partitions. Then you can leave the program.

If you don't understand the list, and you are not sure it is correct, do not select Write. Select Quit instead; then it will not change the disk (you don't want to make the wrong changes)

After you have fixed the partition table, you will need to reboot the PC before Windows can use your D: drive.

I made a mistake in letting Partition Magic 8 "repair" my HD. now I have lost my partitions except my C:
D:, E:, F:, G: are gone and I can't even access them in Windows 7 disc management.

Please help.

I tried using Testdisk and it can see all the paritions, but it shows all the partitions as deleted. When I tried to change more than one partitions to L (Logical), it shows that the strucutre is Bad. Am I missinf a step here?

Thanks.

For what it's worth, Partition Magic hasn't been in use or compatible with current OSes for a number of years. That being said, some of the developers started their own free project, called PartedMagic. Did I mention it's free and includes many other useful utilities, such as TestDisk?

Partition Wizard bootable CD linked by Bare foot Kid above has a Partition Recovery utility located on its Disk tab. It will scan the HD for deleted partitions and recover them if possible.

If this doesnt work, then try Paragon Rescue Disk which also can Recover partitions which have been deleted. If not, it will also scan for files to copy them out if possible.

Thanks Greg, I haven't had time to see if PW has that feature or not.

Try This To Restore Partition

I used Partition Magic to resize a partition and had an interruption during the process and was unable to access that partition.

The only option I was getting in computer management - Disc Management was ....Format this drive.

I read around and was pointed to this program... Partition Table Doctor 3.0

I used p2p to aquire (which I do only in emergency situations) and ran it...boom...there was my partition returned with a message saying that any corrupt or incomplete stuff would be in its own folder if found.

Go slow and think it out as you use this program because it asks a lot of stuff. Like ending sectors being wrong and such, I just went ahead and said OK to all this and let it run.

I forget how long it took, not anything like hours though.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply everyone.

Right now I am recovering data by using Easus Recover Wizard and saving them on an external drive. Fingers crossed everything will be good. I would have to format the partitions aftewards.

To my suprise, all my partitions are back after a clean install of Windows 7.
