HI :D
So yeah, im new to this forum and hopefully somebody could help me solve this annoying problem.

About a week ago, i went onto itunes and it said i couldnt connect to the store, saying that my network connection timed out. Well its been like this since then, and later i noticed, i also cant connect to some sites, watch videos, and upload stuff onto sites. Some of my windows gadgets wont update either.
I thought maybe its my firewall, so i turned off windows firewall and that didnt do anything. I also uninstalled my antivirus, and that did nothing as well. Weird thing is, when i boot my other Win7 OS on my other disk, everything works fine on there. But thats my backup OS and everything i have is on my other disk.

Ive tried remembering what i could have done to screw things up like this the day it started but i cant remember doing anything. Maybe i clicked something that makes my comp block certain IPs i dont know

Someone please help

If you installed itunes that also means you installed the dreaded bonjour service which is famous for causing connection problems.

With Bonjour disabling doesn't always work and you have to remove it from your system.

To fix ...
Run MsConfig

First disable Bonjour, Under the Services tab uncheck the service called "##Id_String1.6844[... and then a bunch of numbers]" by Apple.

To remove it from your system.
1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Bonjour
2. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
3. Restart your computer
4. Delete the Program Files\Bonjour folder

Try running sfc /scannow from a command prompt and let it run. Lots of this going around lately. Reinstalling the eithernet driver might also help. A system restore might be the easiest way out but last resort.

well i tried the sfc /scannow thing a couple times, everytime it keeps saying "another servicing or repair operation is currently running" and tells me to try again some other time. I doubt its my ethernet driver... I dont see how that could block certain IP addresses. And by doing system restore wont i lose everything on here?

That shows there is some type of file problem or a rogue program running or using files. Maybe a virus scan would help.

You should check the task manager and see if you can find a rogue process that doesn't look right. It sounds like something may be using resources or accessing files in the back ground.

With system restore you would only lose what you added since the last restore point was created. You can also choose a date to go back too depending on how much space is reserved for restore points.

Ive already done a full disk virus scan. Ill check the processes too.

Does Windows automatically pick restore points on a daily basis or something, or do i have to do that? If so, i never did

Also, i know i said this before, but i have another OS, the exact same one, just on a different disk. Do you think maybe some program on this disk went into some of my windows files and changed it so it does this? Could i simply copy and paste those windows files on these ones?

By default it picks a new restore point when ever you install important Windows updates.

You could also run a repair from the windows cd.

Well i tried that and it said i dont have any restore points for some reason...

But what i DID try, was goto the windows firewall and disable a bunch of options that i hadnt before, and now my itunes works and i can upload stuff and my windows gadgets update. But i still cant watch some videos. Know what is keeping that from working?
