Amazing speeds some of the guys have had from them eh!

I recently bought a new pc that came with a celeron e3300 and seeing as they are less than £40 to replace I thought I would give it a good work out.

Got 4.2ghz from it on air cooling (a spare stock heatsink from a quad core), highest its hit is 67 degrees and its been 100% stable for a couple of weeks so far.

Recon I could push it a bit further if I got a better cooler

You need to remember a processor will run faster on 1 core for benching than 4 cores. We bench CPU for numbers only not for real world use. I have pushed a 955 to 6000mhz on LN2 but it is just benchmarks. A CPU running at 4.0ghz for 24/7 use to me is KILLER, I get more out of running a rig at max clock for 24/7 and stable then anything. To me it take more skill in setting up a rig to run tight timing and fast clock speed for 24/7 real world use than running only max clock under bench settings. That is easy lol lol lol .....

Ah, that's strange... I'm sure it was working when I posted it yesterday, seems my link had changed completely somehow... I'll just do it like this:

I do know about overclocking, been playing around with OCing my machines since back when my AMD K6-2 500 MHz was considered fast. Lol.. I was just impressed that another Intel Celeron has gone higher, pushing the P4 631 on HWBot's list down to third place.

The P4 held first place for about 2 and a half years until a Celeron beat it, and then it took another half a year for a second Celeron to get the better of it. I've watched HWBot's list of specs for a long time..

Used the OC Genie button on my MSI P55-GD65, instant OC and it seems to do a good job
The GPU is a Club 3d OC version so didn't change anything there.

but it multiplier keeps changing i want it to stay at 8.5 which is what it should be but it keeps going as low as 6.0 any idea what to look for in bios to turn that off?

Look for something in your BIOS (or motherboard manual) regarding 'speed stepping', the feature name in various BIOS screens sometimes vary from one board to the next, but it should be pretty easy to find. Wikipedia has a bit more information on the SpeedStep feature if you feel like reading up on it (link).

i have a question i did read the post on OC but im a little off i increase my bus from 333 to 370 which gave me 3.06 and its stable but it blue screened when doing the prime 95 so i droped it down to 340 and set PCIe to 100 it ran though about 30 minutes worth of prim 95 and everything was fine so i upped it again to 350 and im rerunning it i did look to set my PCi at 33 but i cant find that setting in my bios i have everything on auto except for my ram which i have set to 2.1V 5-5-5-15 to make it 1066 but its running at 11 something

is there anything else i need to know

I found this when opening coretemp earlier on while playing with prime95, notice the clock speed. it was only on a second but i thought it was funny lol

Blend=Stress CPU and RAM

Small FFT to stress CPU

Large FFT to stress RAM

Advanced>round off error checking to show problems on the cores.

Sit back and watch temps and wait...

sounds like too low vcore.

1hr = totally inadequate

8-12hr = very good

24hrs = great
