Audio Driver for Sylvania GNET 13001

Hi, I reformatted my laptop the other day. I changed the gOS to Windows XP. All the other drivers worked out fine with the help of windows update except for the audio driver. I've tried realtek, via and other audio drivers but still there's still no sound. When I try to install it with windows update, it says that it cannot install hardware. What should I do?

EDIT: Oh and by any chance, does anyone know what the chipset for this laptop is and specifically for the audio?

Please post the PnP ID for identification and driver. Start, type "devmgmt.msc", press enter. Double click each and every problem device in turn recording the hardware IDs property from the details tab. This will allow me to find the right driver and post it for you.

Expand the cab and use device manager to install.

Start, type "devmgmt.msc", press enter. Right click each the problem device and select update driver software. Then select Browse... and browse to the expanded driver files I sent you.

Exact error message with screen shots please. Are you sure it's not saying it can't verify that it's the right driver?

That is the correct driver. It came directly from Microsoft's driver database.

Try loading the driver I sent again.

You have SP1? Try a reboot. The driver is UAA and needs the hotfix (from the hp site) in order for it to load.

Nope. It's SP3. I already did. After the installation of the UAA it asked for a reboot. I'll look for the hotfix.

edit: how do i choose the right hotfix?

That UAA file IS the hotfix. I sent you a link from HP because Microsoft wants you to "request" it -- ie it's not available for direct download from them. It's only supported on SP1 and SP2. I have not information on SP3 compatibility. Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver version 1.0a available for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000

Maybe uninstall everything sound related in device manager, uninstall the UAA hotfix and use this one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/561353/KB888111XPSP2.EXE
