Can you use Windows 7 Pro + XP mode to make your "older" Printer work?

Hi,

As many of you may know, HP is having a "rough time", to be kind, with their printers fully working with Windows 7.

In most cases they just release "generic" print drivers and people with all-in-one printers can not use the scanning, and some other, function because of this.

Does upgrading from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, and then downloading the XP Mode allow you to use the original XP drivers for your HP printer?

I have heard that this is a "work-around", not sure if that is true or not.

Thanks!

Well there are two possibilities.

First- If there is a specific driver for XP or vista, you may be able to use them if you install them in compatibility mode.
(right click the installer>properties>compatibility mode>vista/XP)

If that doesnt work you can run a VM but there are several ifs about this method. try the other method first if you can

Hey Ken, thanks!

But it was my understanding that was exactly what XP mode was for - to run software that was originally made to run in XP?
