In need of a new wireless router

If so, any input/opinions/thoughts on it?

We're currently renting out a piece of s--t Netgear CG814WG v2 from TimeWarner, and it drops connection/restarts itself all the time. I'm fed up with it and am just gonna buy my own equipment.

It may work for you. I got one of these and could not get it to work. I took it back and picked up this one. It was set up in 10-15 minutes. I love it. That's my experience.

It may have been this one (I have it hidden away and can't remember) but Linksys seems to be very easy to set up.

One thing to check with your current wireless router -- is it getting too hot? Your symptoms are consistent with heat problems. I've had that problem with several models from different companies -- the cases are just too small and, generally, poorly ventilated. Put them in a spot with poor air circulation around them and they overheat easily.

I would highly recommend that you do a bit of research over on a site that specializes in all things networking an a small scale: small net builder [dot] com (without any of the spaces). They have extensive reviews and discussions on a variety of wireless routers and their strengths and failings. There is also a handy chart that cross-references performance of various models.

Personally, I'm using the D-link DGL-4500 and am very happy with it.

As far as heat, I did actually think about this. It doesn't feel hot at all and is screwy whether it's laying flat or on a vertical stand. Even so, we've had it replaced already 3 times.

I prefer linksys routers out of any other I have had good luck with them in production enviroments I also buy the linksys wireless cards for PCs when I need to connect them wirlessly.
Other things you might want to think about is what are you plugging the router into for power? Are they a grouned outlet or an old power strip that maybe going bad? Do you have a good surge protecter for them or are they on a circuit breaker with a large appliance?
