Using Windows 7 as main OS

I use Win 7 x64 RC as my one and only os. I do not see the the need to have multiple operating systems on this partition and that partition. I have used it as my only os since build 7000 really and it comes up trumps especially now we are hitting the RC. All apps that I use install and work faultlessly. I cant comment on i tunes as I do not and would not acquaint that with my system and the same goes for office and all other bloatware that not only makes your resources take a serious hit but also tries and controls your computer. I tunes, office, nero etc etc no no no.

As for the os itself then go for it, it is absolutely brilliant imo.

All the ones using 7 as their only system, I would ask this question,"Do you use backups for your files."

If you do, then why don't you have a backup for your OS.

They have been known to fail.

The same can be true of all os's. I dont back the os up because I would rather clean install if anything should go wrong. As long as I have got my music/photos/work etc etc backed up then a clean install is the way to go (for me). I have never had any problems since using this as my only os and like swarfega says all the niggly problems are history.:D

I'm using Windows 7 as my main OS since beta was release. Everything works great. Currently I use 7048 build. I know that I need to install 7100, but maybe it can wait little more :D.

My Computer

Windows 7
Win 7100 is my main op sys. I do have Vista operational on second HD in same PC. I start Vista every two weeks just for windows update. All my images, documents, personal notes are backed up on four non operational partitions. Win 7 never crashed ( no blue screen either). Used win 7000-basic, then win7057 and now 7100.
Even if it crashes you can reinstall. Only thing you have to do is to reinstall the programms.
Fully satisfied.

Same here - been using Seven as the main OS since 7077, and had only niggly problems and quite frankly I had much worse with Vista when I first took that up. If you get anything happen thats catastrophic enough to warrant a reinstall you should always do it afresh.

There are some problems with non updated servers which dont recognize windows 7,but that is just a few of them.

If you didn't cheat all the way up to rank 55,I don't think changing new "mpdata" in your players profile, for someones with unlocked weapons should be called cheating now.I did it that way.

Here's another tip.....

NEVER use installed email software (Outlook, Outlook Express etc etc). Disable/Uninstall them all! :)

Mail is best brought in on someone else's server for reading and analysing i.e. Gmail, or if you must, Hotmail etc. Once sure its clean, then you can think about letting it near your system ;)

Yes, we really are entering the 'netbook' world, even on PC's, Email software is not required any longer :)

That's the most absurd thing I've heard in a while. Why would you want mail on other servers for people to gain access to and attack your identity? I use a hosted Exchange Server but I always archive my emails on my HD and there isn't much more than a week of data on my .ost. Hard drives are so inexpensive, why would you not want data stored with you, privately?

Why would you want mail on other servers for people to gain access to and attack your identity?

Agreed with that but only partially.
I believe he ment that it is more secure to pick up your mail through web servers when you are looking at trojan horses, viruses, spam, etc. because web servers filtrate your mail, but on the other side, there is always possibility that someones stole your password and reads your mail and leave it on the server, and you don't even know that till the moment you do some transaction, change your bank account details or something.
