RC1 as main OS

I have a HP DV2550se laptop....
Wanted to install RC1.. but didnt wanna go thru the process of making a partition, and dual boo, etc...
How bad would it be as a main OS?
I mainly use Photoshop CS3 and Cinema 4D as programs outside the usual internet programs, and msn messenger and winamp.

How bad would it be? I recommend it highly. It runs flawless here for everything. The only reason I triple boot with Vista and XP is because I want to. I really have no need for either any longer.

I have a dual boot Vista/Win7 but find that I almost never boot to Vista anymore. Win7 has been solid with all my apps so far. I'm lovin it.

Now lets say I did instal the 1st beta in a small partition (8GB) and obviously thats useless now.
So to install RC i need to do a clean swipe, ... how can i delete both Vista and the Beta? i tried formating the drive where I installed 7 previously... but every time i boot up my laptop, it shows Windows 7 and Windows Vista in the OS selection screen :S

I binned Vista at build 7077 - now on RC1...Been my main OS on my home machine and laptop since 7077 - lovin it! No issues at all!!!!!

I use Windows 7 RC as my main OS as well and had not had any problems with it.

From your Windows 7 installation DVD, you can select to do a custom install and delete all partitions listed to wipe it all out and start fresh again. This can help show you more on this to.

i got dual boot with vista only reason is tv tuner card driver is not available in win 7!!!

Ive been using Win7 as main OS since the beta release. If you are worried about some compatibility issues, you could always download the new Virtual XP.

I'd say go for it, use Windows 7 as your main OS now. I'd do it myself however since I share this computer with my Brother there are somethings he wouldn't enjoy about W7 as of now.

I have this bad habit of keeping any OS I have paid to get. I dual boot XP / W7 on one machine and Vista / W7 on another. I hate to just delete the OS. Especially when they don't come with install disks.

However Windows 7 is all I ever use on a 150GB partition. Sad when I could be using a 500GB drive.....one day I will just switch completely to W7.

I've joined to the club too. I'm using Windows 7 on my main machine at home, my notebook and the PC I use at work. All of those 3 machines with different configurations of hardware and it runs without problems.
I had just a few issues with the game Fallout 3 and an old version of SUPER converter (it was SUPER 2007) that I've fixed updating to SUPER 2009.
All the rest of the software, including the software that you mentioned before, runs perfectly and much better than Vista or XP.
Highly recommended.

It is excellent as a main OS. I have been using Win 7 as my main OS since 3 builds back.
