hello everyone,
I have windows7 Home Premium and I am facing some problems with Hibernate and Standby.
The first Problem is that my system doesn't hibernate but instead it just perform a log off.
The second problem is that when I put the system in standby, it wakes up automatically after 2 to 3 hours which makes a serious problem if my laptop is in the bag.

Can anyone tell me how I can solve my problems :D

Welcome!

1. How long has this problem been going on? Might a system restore help? If not, you can try a repair install.

2. After the next time it wakes up automatically, open a command prompt and enter powercfg -lastwake.

Report what it says here, and we'll go from there.

Thanx for replying

Firstly I would like to thank you for replying.
The problem starts around 3 or 4 months ago after I reinstalled Windows 7 in my laptop. I just want to avoid performing a system restore to avoid losing my data and programs.
I could not try repair install because of a network problem.

The following is the output when I entered powercfg -lastwake in the command prompt directly after the automatic wake up:

{ Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1
Wake Source [0]
Type: Fixed Feature
System Woke Up to Doze to S4 }

I will try do a repair install again and see how.
thanx

I know this is very old. However, I'll necro it since I believe I at least know part of what's going on, and no one ever came up with a solution.

The line "System Woke up to doze to S4" looks like the computer is waking from sleep mode (S3) to go to hibernate mode (S4). Why would it do this? Who knows. However, it can be fixed by taking the following steps:

Go to Control Panel ->Power Options->Change plan settings (for the current power plan)->Change advanced power settings. Expand the "Sleep" option, and expand the "hibernate" option. There you will probably see that the computer is set to hibernate after some time. If you change this to "Never", it will probably stop waking from sleep to go to hibernate.
