ANN: Classic Shell - start menu and other features

I tried to add the My Computer into the menu but it's just not working. Here is my StartMenuItems.ini

; MAIN_MENU.Items - the structure of the main menu. You can add or remove items here
MAIN_MENU.Items=COLUMN_PADDING, PROGRAMS, COLUMN_BREAK, FAVORITES, DOCUMENTS, SettingsMenu, SearchMenu, HelpItem, RunItem, SEPARATOR, LogOffItem, UndockItem, MyComputerItem, DisconnectItem, ShutdownItem

;MyComputerItem.Link=::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
MyComputerItem.Command=::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
MyComputerItem.Name=$Menu.MyComputer
MyComputerItem.Icon=shell32.dll,8

I tried both the link and the command and they didn't work. Is there a way to have My Computer in startup?

classic shell v2.8.3

Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town.
Starting with version 2.8.1 you will have to edit one more setting:
Code:
EnableCustomMenu=1

I've only just noticed that my r-click Classic Explorer Bar is greyed out and I can't select it. I can however, access the Explorer Bar settings through the Start Menu shortcut.
I only went to access it because my Explorer Window Titlebar and icon had disappeared. So I un-installed, cleaned up, re-booted and re-installed. The titlebar tweaks returned
(and my settings) but the Explorer Bar option is still greyed out.
Am I missing something simple here?

EDIT Using version 2.8.3

Most likely the shell extension is disabled. Try the instructions here: Classic Shell: FAQ

Another thing is that I cannot right click Computer
The icon is there and the link works but can't right click it.

Well, command items don't have right-click menus. Instead of .Commmand try .Link=::{.... Then the start menu will understand that you want to create a link to a folder, and you will get the folder's context menu when you right-click.

I'm trying to create a spacing void between some custom added toolbar buttons by using a transparent icon. It works fine except that the hover image appears over the blank icon when mouse hovering it. Is there a property to use to create a blank space between icons?

Try SEPARATOR, like this:
ToolbarItems=Item1, Item2, SEPARATOR, item3, ...

Yeah, I'm trying to do it without the separator being visible. If I had a command to something that was permanently disabled, it would work. I think it would because I don't get the hover image on the disabled up button.

Well, the separators are the recommended way to add gaps to the toolbar. If you don't like how they look, well, too bad. No, not really :). There are 2 things you can do:

1) Edit your Windows theme to make the separators blank.

2) Use a special command, lets call it dummy_command1, and then add a DWORD value dummy_command1 to HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicExplorer and set it to 1. Use a different command name for every "button" you like to disable (you can't have 2 buttons using the same command)

Hi Ivo, I must say I'm really impressed by your work, it's just amazing :D .For a long time I've dreamed of old school "UP" button now thanks to you, it finally came back to me. Thank you very much !
One question: Is there anyway for me to go "up" by hitting "backspace" button, that would be awesome.

You can try editing the accelerator table #256 in browseui.dll.mui file. I haven't tried this myself, but there is a good chance it will work.

That sounds too complicated for me :(, I'm just an ordinary user, not a pro like you :">. So could you pls explain to me the way to edit the accelerator table #256 in browseui.dll.mui file or could you just consider it an option for the next release, I will really appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm not a fan of older looks; in fact, I'm always trying to create a newer, sleeker, more modern look that nobody else has, so they can look at it and go "woah.."
But I will admit, you've done a superb job on this classic theme. I tested it, and I'm quite impressed! You should make it so it can be used on XP. I have a few customers who use XP that want the older look with newer functionality.
