Mouse acting erratically coming out of sleep (keyboard issue)

From time to time, mostly after my laptop comes out of sleep, my mouse (Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000) acts weird. Notably, double-clicking a file on the desktop (left button) brings up the properties menu. In fact, it appears that the system thinks that the alt-key on my usb keyboard is pressed even though it is not. This bug is present in different brands of usb keyboards I tested. Quickly cycling through ctrl-winkey-alt buttons seems to clear the registered alt-key. Any suggestions to correct this behavior? Could the language bar be the culprit? Thanks.

Try another mouse
Go to device manager make sure that mouse and keyboard drivers are up to date and has no yellow warning markers.

I suggest you review your power plan options using your control panel, you have 3 standard templates to choose from and even you have the ability to create a custom plan.
On a side bar I suspect that there is a flaw in the current settings within Windows 7 thats causing the random lockup issue.

Device drivers are updated to their latest versions, reinstalled even. It is more of a keyboard issue than a mouse issue, as I said the alt-key gets stuck on two different brands of usb keyboards (Microsoft and Kesington). It could be due to the fact that both the mouse and keyboard are connected to a USB hub (AC powered). However, I do not have any stuck alt-keys when using linux on the same laptop. So, if it is not spotty power from the USB hub or any manufacturing bugs with the two items, then it must be faulty drivers. However, I guess I am stuck since I use the latest drivers from Microsoft's website.
