Why do I have two versions of Photoshop ???

Hello,
Adobe CS5 installed two versions of Photoshop: 32 bits and 64 bits.
Can anybody tell me why ? :huh:

It's normal. One runs in 32 bit, one in native 64 bit. Run whichever one you want. Is there a specific problem you have with it?

You don't have to guess...you gave the answer already. My understand from dealing with CS5 on my graphic designer's system is that some plug-ins won't work with Photoshop x64 as of yet, so you have the x86 version as a safe fall back.

I have CS5. It's interesting to note for those who do not have a 64-bit OS, you will receive CS4 Adobe Premier Pro. I think this will eventually be the future of new software - phasing out 32-bit programs. Adobe Premier CS5 is a perfect example of taking an intensive task like video editing and optimizing it for the 64-bit OS. Certain programs really don't need 64-bit (e.g., Word), but that didn't stop me from installing Office 10 64-bit. And, like Deacon said, not all plug-ins will work with 64-bit. I've forced plug-ins to work with FF, but never bothered to see if it's possible with CS5 products.

Anyhow...

You are probably just fine working with the CS5 32-bit software unless you are doing video editing.

Haven't finished installing yet and indeed I have some plug-ins to add.... So it's good you warned me NOW, good for me rather than get utterly frustrated later.....

When you're installing photoshop, you will see 2 Photoshop's on the install select screen: 1 called "Photoshop" and the other called "Photoshop 64-bit"
If you're on a 64-bit OS you might as well choose 64-bit only and uncheck "Photoshop", but I've heard some plugins or something may not work on 64-bit- I'm not too sure, but with 64-bit you can use all the memory you have, and it will be slightly faster as well, not twice as fast, but slightly
