If you are curious about the different components contributing to your bootup time, the following registry edit will provide some very interesting information at bootup.

Open your registry and go to: –

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Policies -> System

Create a new DWORD called "verbosestatus" and set it to "1". (verbosestatus REG_DWORD 0x00000001 (1))

Restart Windows and enjoy.

This might have been posted elsewhere but I figured some users might not be familiar with this edit. Obviously please exercise care when editing your registry.

Don't feel too bad, I'm looking at 108 seconds as my best boot time - no tweaks.

Office 2007, AutoCad Architecture 2011 and XP Mode installed among a myriad of others though I don't think the aforementioned programs affect start-up time too much. The notification area is showing Display Fusion Pro, Smart Defrag, AVG 9.0 Internet Security, Lightshot (better than snipping tool) and all of the other obligatory system icons such as display driver, touchpad, Action Center, wireless, and sound.

BootRacer showed a 61 second time, however.

My weak link would definitely be my 3 year old laptop with a 1.8 GHz Core2Duo and 3 GB RAM. I don't think a dual monitor setup affects such times, does it? I'm using the 17" laptop screen and a 19" monitor, attached, for an extended desktop.
