Disk Managment void of anything

Hi guys,

When I get to disk managment under admin tools, W7 thinks that there are no logical or primary partitions.

Command using "diskpart" yields the same results. I heard that this could be consequence of a virus or malware and I scanned using MSE and it found some malicious software.

Maybe its because of my MBR being corrupted somehow, but I dont know how to fix it if W7 cant identity my partitions.

Anyways heres a SS

Many thanks guys

A. Disable your present antivirus software and firewall
B. Remove your present antivirus software
C. Download Microsoft Security Essentials.

D. Run Microsoft Security Essentials. Quick Scan - ~8 min on my laptop.
E. Run Microsoft Security Essentials. Full Scan - ~ 1hr 50 min on my laptop.
Now I advise you to uninstall MalwareBytes and only install again when and if you need it.
Why?, you ask. Leaving MalwareBytes installed slowed my system. AutoRuns showed MalwareBytes processes running even after exiting from MalwareBytes.

I disagree with the last 6 suggestions. It's only your opinion that MSE is the best AV solution (when lots of people suggest otherwise) and Mbam runs fine on my machine and lots of others so suggesting he remove that is not necessarily a good idea.

OK, so don't uninstall Malwarebytes, I have it and it doesn't slow down my PC.

But, I agree Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes work perfectly and many agree. Sorry NOD32 you disappointed me once! LOL

I've never seen a screenshot like that, must be a virus.

Is this a recent clean install, if so you have alot of choices. Use a restore point prior to this happening, do a clean install of os if you don't want to hunt for viruses

Thanks for all the suggestions... but I already scanned with both. Yet the problem was not fixed.

Has anybody experienced this and found a solution?

I downloaded a couple of partition utilities, and they can locate the partitions. However, like the image I showed you, Windows cannot locate them.

Sorry for the double post, but another issue is that I cannot even install another OS on the second partition since Windows cannot find ANY Partition (basicially windows thinks that there is NO hard drive to install itself onto).

absolutely nothing under disk drives. I just installed a new mobo, could be conflicts there. Or it could be a BIOS issue

Have you checked the bios?

This would help greatly to determine if we are dealing with a software (Windows) problem, or something on the Hardware level.

Did you reset the bios to 'Optimized Defaults" when you started the machine the very first time?
If not, it would be a good idea.

Also, please take a look in your bios, and see what it lists for disk drives.

Do the bios see & recognize your Hard drives, CD/DVD Drives etc and all listed as they should be?

If this is a problem with the hardware itself, its likely not going to be fixed at the software level in Windows.

Some more information such as System Specs would be valuable.
Aslo, what Motherboard do you have, Bios Version etc.

Sata Port 6?

Im not sure that it would cause the issue you are having, but the boot drive itself should be in the 1st SATA port.
0 or 1 however your MOBO lists them.

CD/DVD drive would be better off in the last SATA port.

All other HDs in between.

Specs updated, +rep given to all.

I am currently downloading the Win7 ISO as I have seemingly misplaced the disk  Its gonna take awhile for me to do the repair install.

I will change the arrangement of the SATA, once the repair install is run once through

Although I would recommend changing the port loacations as mentioned, it shouldn't cause the problems you are having.
At least, I wouldnt think so. Then again, some boards can be quite fussy over certain things.

If the Bios is posting and listing the drive as it should, I beleive the problem must be with the installation itself.

If you boot from the Win7 DVD and choose custom install, and its showing the drive and allowing you to format/etc, you'll have a definitive answer its corrupt installation.

You may want to consider installing the 64bit version. (Will require a format/clean install)

With 6GB DDR3 memory, your not getting to even use it with a 32bit OS.
I think you just might be better off.

Yes i know i was going to create a separate partition for a 64bit install somewhere down the line. I also need to back up all my stuff in the meantime. I got windows embedded standard 7 from dreamspark and when i launched it from a bootable drive it couldnt identify any partitions either

*shrugs*
