Hi, dbradbury, welcome to the Seven Forums.

My first question would be to ask which version of iTunes are you running?

I am running 10.0.0.68 currently, however, this evening I will be updating to 10.0.1.

Perhaps, if you have not already done so, check to see if there is an update available for the version you are running and it might correct the error you are currently experiencing?

I just updated to 10.0.1.22 as well, dbradbury. The issue you are experiencing is definitely not normal, as you correctly surmised.

If you don't have the installer for 10.0.1 (.22) on your computer, you can re-download it here and then re-install iTunes.

It shouldn't be necessary to uninstall your current installation. Just perform a re-install.

but would a re-install solve this problem?

I dunno. I don't have the issue. It certainly can't hurt. Occam's razor, dbradbury... :)

I am using iTunes on Windows 7 (though 32 bit) and I dont see any compatibility issues at all. I am using 10.0.1.22 but I have not activated quick launch as I keep my bar minimal and so cannot comment on that. But your problem does not seem normal for sure and I doubt it is because of Windows 7 as iTunes would have rectified all bugs till now as Windows 7 was launched quite a while ago and there have been a few iTunes updates released after that. Try reinstalling as advised earlier and it might work out. If not try checking iTunes support as it should not be a compatibility issue for sure.
