For the last week I have been having a problem when shutting down w7 and booting up.
When shutting down there is an exclamation point in the start>shutdown icon
When I click on it a message appears installing windows updates. After about 30 seconds the PC shuts down

When I start my PC I get a message across the screen
Configuring Windows Updates
0% complete
Do not turn off

The message remains on the screen for about 5 minutes and then my desktop appears.

I have tried to remedy the problem with System Restore, but the last restore point shows the last update and today's date!

This is an endless cycle at every shutdown AND bootup

Any suggestion as to the cause and solution of this frustrating problem??
Thanks for your help~
