I would buy software from NewEgg before I would from Amazon. Amazon has been known to occasionally sell counterfeit software.

I never really had any problems with Newegg - and I order stuff all the time. Mostly little things except my SSDs which are all from them. I had to RMA things twice and that went without a hitch.

I really don't like Amazon. They give little information on the products. And TigerDirect is in Florida - so I have to pay sales tax. Not that this is a big deal, but I am frugal. LOL

I expect that is not "sold by Amazon" but a third party. I generally buy only "sold by Amazon", which most of prime stuff is.

I once bought a replacement phone battery that wasn't "sold by Amazon". It was obviously used. But it worked fine.

Anyhow, I think you can't go wrong if it is sold by Amazon. The best thing about Amazon is their no hassle and quick turn-around return policy and their two day prime delivery.

Newegg has S**t "sale" prices, poor packaging, and awful return policy in practice (e.g. just ggogle their motherboard returns and return refusals with claims that customers bent pins).

While what you say is true about many of Amazon's third party (Marketplace) vendor's, I was referring to Amazon itself. Amazon has been known to get its stock from dodgy vendors which has resulted in it selling counterfeits from its own warehouses. If Amazon runs out of its own stock, it has been known to reroute orders to a Marketplace vendor without informing the party placing the order first.

This isn't to say Amazon isn't a good place to do business; except for groceries, I buy more from Amazon than anywhere else. Still, Amazon has its problems.

You can choose to believe me or not; it's your money. I have read numerous customer reviews on Amazon itself in the past complaining that Amazon sold them counterfeit software, mostly Windows. I have better things to do than try to find them again.

Looks like it is all Marketplace, not sold by Amazon.

Sorry Lady, I didn't mean to put you on the spot, I was really interested in knowing if I could trust Amazon for software. But if you make a statement like that you should be willing to back it up.

In the link you provided there was nothing in any of the reviews to indicate it the software was counterfeit. Just a bunch of clueless buyers.
