"Turn Windows features on or off" not working

When I click on turn window features on or off, a new window opens. It says "Please Wait". Then nothing comes finally. I am left with a blank white window. I cannot turn any features on or off. I ran the command Sfc /scannow in cmd with administrative privilage. But I am in vein.
PLEASE HELP

A system restore or sfc scan are in order. But heres this thread which nicely sums up various things, people have tried, so try out one by one.

It can take four or five minutes for the blank screen to do its thing so you should give it a bit of time at least.
